Drummy's Testimonial & Other Friendly Dates

Postby marky No.1 » Sun May 15, 2011 4:00 pm

The Stewart Drummond Tesimonial game is arranged for Wednesday 27th July, no doubt team and opponents will be announced after the break.

Other games to my knowledge:

Sat. 16th July Home game to be announced
Tues. 19th July Carlisle Home 7.45
Friday 22nd July Derby Home 7.30
Saturday 30th July Southport Away
Monday 1st August Manchester Utd X1 Home 7.45

Let's make the place feel like home this time!

Surely we'll have Netherfield away at some point, possibly even a Barrow fixture?

Certainly need some away fixtures. 4 home is more than enough.

the club will not give the profit from the man u game to wayne, or anyone else, i think a match against barrow would be fitting though, with wayne playing a half for each team.

Blackburn Rovers have been confirmed as the opponents on 16th July. Their first team squad will be split down the middle to play us.

Raith Rovers are on Tuesday 12th July

No offence to Manchester United, or anyone else, but that's a much more high profile friendly. Man United's entire first team squad will be overseas when we play them but against Rovers we'll be getting first teamers that could include players like Pedersen (one of my favourites in the Prem), Samba, Robinson, etc. etc. Much the better fixture. Problem is a lot of Rovers fans will go to Accy instead as its nearer.

and I quite like the look of the Derby game if they are bringing a full team, I suppose it will depend if they also have a game on the Sat.

You could of course do a mini tour for the day if you didn't want to miss your favourite players and head for Accy about 10.30am then head back to the Globe at 1.45p.m.

I see Accy. are doing a testimonial for John Coleman against Celtic. Could any of our (ex)players be involved?

Mention on PNE forums of friendly with them. Possibly as warm up for League Cup first round match. Would be nice for Drummy if he played his home town in a testimonial.

Depends what sort of team we'll have for Drummy's testimonial. It could be a mix of players from down the years with only a couple of current players such as Garry and Jimbo.
