Goal music.. yes or no?

Goal music.. yes or no?

Postby Crooky MFC » Sun May 15, 2011 9:26 pm

This has been brought up every season by several people, but I'd just like everyones opinion? I know many prefer for the crowd to create the noise after a goal, but would it hurt to try something different maybe? We've been to many grounds who use goal music such as Burton & Port Vale, which gets a large section of the supporters up out of their seats to create a great atmosphere, Im not saying we SHOULD introduce goal music, I'd just like to know whether we'd be prepared to give it a go?

The most popular one being http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62FV1LJb6uk

No. It's cheesy and the noise should be made by the crowd.

I absolutely hate the song in the video above, and Chelsea Dagger because they're overused and make a club look generic.

At least Port Vale and Blackpool playing Glad All Over is a bit different, and funny after 7 times

If it is the right song then yes.

Play it thirty seconds after the initial crowd cheer has died down and then have something familiar that the crowd could join in with and carry on.

A little blast of 'I just can't get enough' might work well at the moment 8-)

Because as one wise man MM said to me it drowns out the crowd noise, fans should be cheering loud enough. Plus it sounds great when you can here everyone cheering just after a goal . :D

I hope you're not being serious.
I think theirs pros and cons to having goal music. Although IMO more pros.

Most clubs go for the piranhas- tom hark?
Simple and gets the crowd going.
I think we need to work on songs before we score to be fair, everyone is guna cheer when we score anyway.
Get over it ;)

Yes! ABC, Tune!!! We should have a disco at the back of the MBW stand next year.

Tracklist thus far:

ABC - Shoot That Poison Arrow
Reel 2 Real - I Like to Move It
DC5 - Glad All Over
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough

Jackson 5 - Blame It on the Boogie?

He is the DJ, he'll play what he wants 8-)

For me, on this as with run-out music etc, it will always be a 'no' if it's not a tune we've chosen ourselves (ie if it's just a rip-off from another club).

There are enough tunes out there for us to have our own.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

This comes around every now and again and the answer remains the same.

Only one person makes the call. The Manager.

Jimbo does appreciate music having an effect on atmosphere. As I mentioned on another thread Jimbo personally asked for the run out tune "Gonna Fly Now" (Rocky music) and the music just before run out "Liquidator" (Harry J and the All Stars) as he was hoping that fans would start to build the atmosphere by clapping along.

Personally, I dont like goal celebration music I think it is cheesy and that the fans should make the noise. The current celebration arrangement of two verses of the fans and then a second cheer after the announcement is spot on. Its all about the fans showing appreciation that way.

However if Jimbo wants it, Jimbo gets it. Its up to him and him alone. :D
