Wimbledon and AFC Wimbledon are two different clubs so you are incorrect I'm afraid.

Don't say that to AFC fans, Shrimpy.

They consider themselves TO be the original Wimbledon, and even list in their matchday programme today that they were F A Cup winners in 1988.

Didn't MK Dons come to an agreement with AFC Wimbledon and the FA Cup trophy is actually with AFC Wimbledon?

I believe so, Duffman, yes. Hence why they list themselves as winners in '88.

My image of that Final is John Aldridge's pre-penalty kick shuffle, and Dave Beasant reaching and saving it !!

Regardless of what arrangement they've come to with AFC Wimbledon the fact remains that MK Dons won the FA Cup in 1998.

The continuation of the club that won in 1988 is MK Dons though.

AFC Wimbledon have just stolen their history.

You both have very genuine points and are both sort of right IMO

"The supporters of AFC Wimbledon believe that our club is a continuation of the spirit which formed Wimbledon Old Centrals in 1889 and kept Wimbledon Football Club alive until May 2002. We consider that a football club is not simply the legal entity which controls it, but that it is the community formed by the fans and players working towards a common goal. We therefore reproduce the honours won by what we believe was, and will always be, 'our' club, in our community. "
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

MK Dons are the continuation of Wimbledon.

AFC Wimbledon are a splinter group of supporters that setup their own club, similar to FCUM.

MK Dons have no right to any of Wimbledon's honours. But to be fair it is also arguable that neither do AFC Wimbledon, who were formed as a non-league club nine years ago.

Personally it was a total disgrace what happened with MK Dons stealing a league place and the history off a proud club that achieved more than any other non-league team before or since.

Just imagine if a town like say, Warrington decided to take and relocate our club, change our name, change our shirt colour and tell us to commute over an hour to watch our 'team'! AFC Morecambe would certainly be formed and start playing home games at the Vale of Lune or Giant Axe in the Evostick leagues

Why? The club that won the FA Cup in 1988 is what is now known as MK Dons.

It's horrible what happened to Wimbledon but the fact remains that the one currently playing in Milton Keynes is still that club.
