The Visitor understands reports that Sammy McIlroy has left Morecambe FC are incorrect.

Visitor Twitter - http://twitter.com/#!/The_Visitor

"The club this morning denied a report on Sky Sports that McIlroy had already left his post.

However, The Visitor understands the manager is due to meet chairman Peter McGuigan this afternoon to discuss his future."

If you scroll down the twitterings there is one from Neil Wainwright saying that it was his last day at Morecambe FC (7th May)

No it says 'potentially'.

I wouldn't be suprised if PMG trys to talk Sammy out of walking away but I think Sammy has already made his mind up.

Reading the programme notes on saturday Sammy seemed to be saying he need to have a think about what ws best for himself and MFC where as PMG was all about talking to sammy about getting new players in early for next season.

What I saw in Lancaster this lunchtime leaves me with no doubt he's being cut.

A more constructive player than either Brown or Hunter. Is it any wonder that we never looked like breaking down a poor side like Northampton with the midfield we played.

I'm not sure the club would ever comment on an internet story and thats probably correct.

However once it was on a major news media (Sky Sports) they probably had to respond to questions from journalists.

If McIllroy does go, I'll be fuming. No reason this couldn't have been sorted last week so that if he was leaving, it could have been acknowledged on Saturday at the match and players awards evening. No one will get a chance to say thank you for all he's achieved at the club.

Pathetic, but can't say I'm surprised.

Maybe it's Sammy's decission and he only decided after the game on Sat.

I was sat in block C and when the second goal went in he looked a broken man.

I really believe the chairman wants him to stay.

If he does go maybe its his decision and therefore the club wouldn't have known on Saturday.

perhaps the booboys on Saturday made up his mind.

That is all very nice and something I would have wanted.

However that is not what happens in the real world. I applauded him all game and afterwards and said my goodbye to myself

that was the conversation we had last thursday phil
i asked him outright if he was staying but couldnt give me a final answer on it
he sounded very down to me and his whole body language on Saturday seemed to suggest this could be the last game here but we shall see

Watching him closley on Sat I did have symaphy for him when players start suddenly doing unexplained things like Coperthwaite kicking that ball out for a corner the frustration must be imense.

When that second goal went in I just looked at him and he was completley gone and I just thought for your own health and sanity walk away.
