Bye Bye Sammy?

Bye Bye Sammy?

Postby shrimper » Sat May 07, 2011 11:09 pm

That was a very strange speech by Sammy (and Mark) tonight. Sounded very much like a 'thanks, and goodbye'. No talk about next season, just about what they'd done for the club and 'good luck, best wishes'.

IF that is the end, I feel upset that we've not been able (as a crowd) to give them the send off they deserved.

Wonder what others who were there think?

He deserves a send-off without doubt, as do many of the players.

They chose not to acknowledge the fans though and as a result will probably not get the acknowledgement that their achievements deserve.

i seen it like that but the PM speech was confusing and contradictory ie. we have made mistake's but we will learn from them and bounce back(in as many words)

and i hope the latter is right :|

Very close two horse race with Barry & Andy the only two in it.

Craig Stanley a distant third place!

I had Craig as my 3rd choice after Pazza and Bazza.

were the votes counted under AV or FPTP ?

I think it says everything about our season when not one forward or attacker was nominated and that the player of the season had to come from a defence that has conceded 73 goals.

Niall Cowperthwaite - they got a lot of good mentions and Jim made sure they were seen as 'first teamers who had knuckled down and done a good job when asked to in the ressies' and 'some good young lads with bright futures'.

Though they will always be 'in the background', won't they, by the very nature of 'reserves'?

I agree Jim has been fantastic with the reserves but a little more attention from SM and some of them been given a chance to prove themselves rather than bringing in expensive players who have done nothing for the club. Chris Wraight springs to mind immediately and if it weren't for injuries would Cowperthwaite been given a chance?

If he's gone and it was decided that he was going then the announcement should have been made after safety was assured meaning that we had the opportunity to say thanks at the end of the game yesterday, rather than begging that he's gone come August, as he deserved more than that.

He'd have got a hero send off, songs, the whole lot if an announcement had been made. But that would have involved the board listening to people and not participating in yet another PR disaster.

Thanks and all the best if you've gone.

You are right goneshrimping, PR disaster.

It's times like this when we a Fans Club Supporters of Morecambe Football Club Labour Party Bureaucratic Society to hold the club to account, hold meetings, elect themselves as chairman and a write manifesto whilst interrupting everybody elses drinking. Oh my days!
