So so terrible today. Northampton were good and closed us down and committed us very well and we never did any of that. We could not even pass. Today was exactly how all this season has been. 20th SUCKS.

Northampton are better and bigger than us, but this season we have been very similar, and because they have a new manager they are happy and expecting automatic promotion next year...

Roll on big changes - PAINT THE BARS RED. ;)

And today's attendance was terrible. Should be getting 3,500 on the last day. Barnet got over 4000, Stevenage over 5,000, Stockport over 5,000. Even Burton over 3,500. Lincoln 7,000. We always get poor attendance.

Yes and I reckon a good 8-900 from Northampton. Just our usual 1700 hardcore turning out, which with the season we have had is to be expected. Today's attendances just show how we are punching above our weight. All the more reason to stop the rot and change the management this summer.

Sammy, you have done wonders but I really think it is now time for a change.

out of the Morecambe players and used subs today this is my assessment of their futures for next season

Roche on contract and in our goals
Wilson out of contract and probably away
Haining out of contract and probably away
McCready on contract and in our defence
Bentley out of contract. either coaching and managing our reserves or managing elsewhere
Drummond out of contract but retained just as a squad player
Hunter on contract but loaned out for season to Conf/Conf North team
Jevons on contract and one of 4 strikers
Carlton out of contract but signed on and another of our 4 strikers
Brown out of contract and released
Hurst returns to Carlisle after loan period
Cowperthwaite given a contract
Spencer returns to the Terriers. if we can sign him he will be our 3rd striker
Holdsworth out of contract and released

out of the rest of the players not covered above I would like the following retaining
Fleming a key man next season
Charnock
Parrish another key man next season
Stanley should have played instead of going to Torquay but hell will freeze before SMc gives him a contract

I too would keep Haining but I think he wants away.

Haining is a good player when he can remain uninjured, but doesn't seem to be able to - always been prone to injury, probably due to lack of match-fitness. Has spent too much of his time with us injured. As a consequence, I'd release.

As we saw today, I think Jimbo is well worth retaining - an inspirational and devoted MFC player.

It's been a disappointing season for Jevons. He has the skill and ability, but has underperformed for most of the season, has looked light-weight and L2 defenders seem to have him sussed and frustrated. I'd release in favour of a stronger striker.

I'm guessing you haven't spotted the rather heavy bag on the pretend photographer's back? :? :o 8-)

As for the game... I said pre-match that I was feeling confident. I thought after the debacle of Port Vale, we would be really up for it today. I predicted a loosening of the shackles and an attacking line up. We had nothing to lose, last game of the season, surely it was a game that cried out for a bit of entertainment?

I predicted 4-0

So you can imagine my delight when we started with what appeared to be one up front :( Occasionally it looked like a sort of 4-4-2, but usually Jevons or Carlton were playing deeper. Lots of faffing about and I don't recall a shot on target in the first half? High point for me was the Northampton fans party.

Second half was poor again until perhaps the last ten minutes.

BORING, BORING, TURGID FOOTBALL

I don't know if changing the manager will improve things or not. I don't know if Sammy Mac will stay or go. But I do know that we really don't want another season of BORING, BORING, TURGID FOOTBALL.
