Cowps and Wraighte

Cowps and Wraighte

Postby Christies Child » Tue Apr 26, 2011 9:15 am

To nullify Fleetwood one of the leagues top strikers out of yesterdays game, suggests to me that young Cowps has a big future ahead of him, first with us and then no doubt eventually at a higher level.

Listening to Jimbo sing his praises on Radio Lancashire it would appear that he sees young Cowps as his natural successor. With Chris Wraighte another youngster with huge potential yet to make his first team debut, maybe the days of relying on 'journey men' to make up the numbers are to be replaced with emerging younger talent.

Niall had another good game yesterday and looks cool and composed when under pressure.

Definitely one for OUR future (ie, the remainder of this season, all next season and beyond)

No doubting who his fatha' is. Talk about a spitting image ... !!

He needs to be gotten under a long-term deal as soon as possible. Frankly though, with our manager, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being released at the end of the season whilst the likes of Wainwright are given another extension.

Why has it taken injuries and a Norwegian tosser to disgrace himself for us to see Cowps put into the first team? Questions need to be asked. Cowps has been captain of the reserves all season and has been getting good reviews, yet it takes a string of events to happen before he is even considered. If we have players like this at the club, use them.

The biggest annoyance this season is that Parrish (the best centre-back by a street this season) has consistently been shuffled around to supplement areas where we are short of numbers, because he can play in a number of positions. Oh, and sending Will Haining out on loan???

Clearly it can only benefit the club if there is a clear linkage between the first team and the reserves sides, keeping everybody on their toes and ensuring people are pushing themselves for first team football.

Excellent point. I don't think it's unreasonable to postulate that, had it not been for the circumstances you outline, Cowperthwaite would have found himself untried and, like the plethora of academy graduates promoted to our 'first team' since McIlroy took charge, released at the end of this season.

I'd like to see Wraighte given a chance before the end of the season.

And what about Gav Clarke? Jimbo was singing his praises at last year's end of season speech.

Not been updated in ages but he was definitely there earlier in the season and I'm sure he is now.

Aaron Taylor plays for Bamber.

Jimbo has made him the reserve team Captain for their final game tonight at Tranmere.

I'd like to think that our manager is there to look at Gavin and Chris Wraighte with a view to making them more inclusive in the first team squad for next season assuming as I now believe that there will be no managerial change come the end of this season. :(

Attacking midfield / Winger whenever I've seen him for the Reserves at Kendal
