O/T Gills v Barnet

O/T Gills v Barnet

Postby Christies Child » Sat Apr 23, 2011 7:18 am

IF Barnet fail to get anything today in their game v the Gills then I can't see them staying up...unfortunately

It would also vertually guarantee our Football League status for another season.

If that is the scenario, then I'd be delighted for us... :D ...but very sad for Barnet....

I'd like to see Barnet win, even if that means we are not mathematically safe today. The chances of us going down is incredibly unlikely already. We'd have to lose the remaining three games and have a few clubs all going on an unlikely run. As well as Barnet needing to secure three wins from four, we'd also need Burton to get five points from four games, Northampton five points from three games and Lincoln four points from three. That's with us losing all three remember and without even mentioning Macclesfield, Hereford, Cheltenham or Bradford.

Come on Barnet!

So how did that work out then?

Sorry i dont agree Keith...I would love Gilingham to win about 5-0 today and put a real dent in Barnets goal difference

Barnet still have to play Accy away and Oxford and Port Vale at home

Sorry but its Barnet and Stockport down for me

Hmmm. I'd like Barnet to stay up but I do think we have to be a little selfish and be mindful of the number of long distance trips we're likely to have to make next season. Chesterfield are already promoted and Bury are looking like certs. In the opposite direction, Swindon and Plymouth are likely to be in our league next season. Two localish sides replaced by two very non-local ones. We're almost certain to lose one localish side in Stockport to relegation and their replacements are Crawley, another long trip. AFC Wimbledon are looking in good form leading into the conference play-offs and they'd start as favourites, another southern team. Burton and Northampton, being the most likely sides to face relegation, could be two of our closer trips next season so we really need both of them to stay up.

a handsome win for the Gills today would make us safe.

after that if Barnet could win their last 3 matches 1- nil then they would probably be safe too.

EDIT: Burton have conceded so dropped back down 4 places

Bet Stockport are gutted, when they win every other bugger does.

Looks like we could send Northampton down on the last day!
