Ken was the chairman when I first got hooked on the Shrimps. Since then I reckon he must have been the one face that has been around the club every season, ever since. Never met him but my dad knew him from a kid and my sister used to refer to him as 'Uncle Ken' when she worked a few years ago selling the OTB tickets.

A true legend, as much as any player. RIP

I know he didn't mention it too often but in the Phillipines he was known by the locals on the Island as "Sir Ken". When he first told me I thought, yeah OK! However on arrival there he actually was Sir Ken. He will be missed on the other side of the world as well as here. When I read Jim's and other messages today I welled up. I have photos of him when we spent the early hours on the beach with a 23p can of St. Miguel watching the crabs on the sand, it was his way of winding down ready for the sunrise.

A truly happy time with a really nice bloke. Sorry I'm rambling :( :(

RIP Uncle Ken. A true Morecambe FC legend - you will be missed but not forgotten. Condolences to Ken's family and friends.

Perhaps when we build a roof on the "car wash" side of the Globe Arena the new stand could be named "The Ken Parker Stand"?

That is one hell of a good shout, seeing as Ken was instrumental in the overseeing of the original Car Wash Terrace build project during his Chairmanship in 1995 as we won promotion to the Conference.

Utterley shocking and saddening news. What a great man Ken was, and I know he will be sorely missed by so many people. He brought a smile to so many faces, especially mine. So for one last time:

"OKEY DOKEY!!!"

Rest in peace, Ken, and thank you for everything you have done for our club. You won't be forgotten!

P.S. Christie (*Cooking Fat*, or a variation thereof) shed a tear when he found out and will miss you...
HOWAY THE SHRIMPS!!!!!

Tragic news indeed. Condolences to all his family and friends.
A character larger than life, who worked hard for all he got.

I have known him for about 30 years, but interesting reading about his time with Radio Caroline here: http://www.bakerlite.co.uk/angelo.htm

Ken and Mike all at sea as DJ's for Radio Caroline. They made the tapes in London studios which were then shipped out to the floating medium wave transmitter.

The Community Sports Centre could be named The Ken Parker Building. A fitting tribute to a man who played an active role in ensuring the long term stability of our club.

Or the "Car wash terrace" could be renamed the Ken Parker Stand when it finally gets a roof added?

Had a few good friday nights in Christies bar with Ken and others, he paid for fish and chips after a FA Cup match in the early nineties for all who were left in the bar after the game. He also supplied the cleaning materials from his garage when we cleaned the glass on the floodlights at Christie Park.

RIP Ken

Sad news and I hope something is done to remember him for what he will always be, a Morecambe FC fan to his core.

I grew up at Christie Park, my bedroom window looked over the old stand and every memory I have of this great club owes a great thanks to the work, effort but most of all love he gave so frequently and, as previously mentioned so honestly whether it be a pat on the back to the boys or his own rendition of the "Fergie" hair dryer treatment!!

I'll never forget playing football with his boys Ken Jr and Joe and he was always the one who would be able to get us a ball from the dressing room which as a young aspiring footballer myself meant he was King of Christie in our eyes!!!

RIP Ken and my condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones.
What a stupid idea this swear jar is!

Thanks for the Information Mark. We're taking the kids away on holiday on Monday, but Tina has kindly agreed to let us come home early to be there. Words still fail me, but one thing i keep thinking is that even though we are The Morecambe Family, we don't know eachother enough. so at the next game go and speak to one of the people you normally say hello to and introduce yourself by name, tell them something about yourself. Make it mean something. None of us know how long we have left, so let's make it count. Ken squeezed everything out of life and so should we.

Normally when I can't think of decent words to sum someone up, I reach for a poem. I think this one fits for Ken.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Bladdy hell! But as Ken would say "where's mi fiver, is it not your round?"

Love ya Ken ;) .
:( :(

Only saw him embarrassed once and this is true. After an evening out of fun, laughter and karaoke and in front of family and friends my lass asked the priest "are you married?" :o

I really cannot describe the scenes and goings on thereafter 8-)
