I think they do some things well. I think they do some things very badly. I think I'm well within my rights to be disappointed with a reserve team match being built up as something really special.

I can appreciate what the club does without needing to post sycophantic arselicking comments about our soooper dooper directors though.

You're a persistant negative sod about McIlroy, so you'll forgive me at ignoring your righteous idnignation over my negiativity towards this fixture.

Keep it up though, and maybe I'll flounce off in a puff of prima donna smoke and never ever come back (for a few weeks).

Our old friend CampDave (he of the Victor Meldrew avatar) is alive and well and is quoted on page 36 of this week's Vis on the fixture in his usual negative style.

Shrimps Voices mentioned AGAIN on the back page also.

Well i for one am disappointed. Hardly a prestigious pre season friendly as advertised, just a match against a bunch of young lads who happen to be wearing a United shirt. I watched United reserves/youth team a few years ago against Blackburn at Christie, one of the worst games i have ever seen.

Any top team coming to Morecambe for a pre season game is always going to send a reserve team so your never going to get a 'prestigious' game.

Just another thought do we get any money from MUTV for showing the game?

It's not the simple answer, it's the lazy answer. We had the thread about this wonderful friendly that we were going to have, and how amazing everything was going to be, and it turns out it's going to be some spotty teenagers coming to the Globe. Yet people on here continue to hype it and pat each other on the back.

Maybe I'd have been more impressed had the club made the announcement this morning, but the leak last week, and your repeated assertations that everyone would be amazed will leave people disappointed. It isn't what we were sold.

Altogether now .........

What a fantastic fixture!!!!!

I'm ecstatic about this one as I'll be in Morecambe then and I can't stand Man U. The opportunity to see Rooney, Berbatov and the like getting a good hiding like we gave Wolves a few seasons ago is just incredible. Even if we lose but get a goal or, dare I hope for two, I'll be overjoyed.

Hope I can get a ticket as they are going to sell out within hours.

Well done the directors!

Don't say a word. Punishment for not reading the 4 whole pages of discussion about the game in this thread.

So the big question;

Will Sammy be in the Morecambe dugout or the MUTV commentary box for this game :?:

I don't actually think many people are as dense as some are implying.

The vast majority of people who have any interest in football know that friendlies are rarely exciting, competitive matches and that they often feature teams of 'fringe' or reserve team players when it's a big-name club that's visiting.

They choose to turn up - or not - in that knowledge.

Anyone for whom the appearance of Rooney etc is a condition of their attendance will surely check (easy to do) what the make-up of the United team is likely to be before choosing to come or not.

For others, the mere fact that it's a team representing Man U will be enough for them to come along and enjoy it for what it is.

I'll be away on holiday but I say 'well done' to the club and I hope there's a big crowd and those that go enjoy it.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Yeah, it's about time someone changed track on this thread. How about Berlusconi's trial that started today.
Seriously, I think the next posting on this thread should be after the final whistle, and then applaud mission accomplished, or debate the next game.

:D Mainly.
That and I was bullied in to it.
And it reminded me of being at work.
Or on a night out...
