am I right in thinking it was Keith Galley who came on as a sub to get the winner ?

I seem to remember thinking that the wooden benches in that stand were going to collapse under all that bouncing, atmosphere was terrific.

I thought Keith scored the first with an electrifying strike. Not that he's ever mentioned it

It was Gal, yes.

I've got at home somewhere an original LEP press photograph of Keith being chaired off the pitch, holding the trophy, by jubilant Shrimps fans !

One of the most incredible games ever. The cup was pitch-side with black & white ribbons tied on it. The Pier Hotel had sent two minibuses. One bus load left a few minutes early to get the drop on the traffic. In the days before mobile phones, they were beginning to get rather worried when the second bus hadn't arrived more than an hour later. When they arrived, I can only imagine the response from the first lot on being told we'd won!

So how did that work out then?

Great post Keith. Happy memories.

I remember going on the pitch at Christie pre-match a few weeks afterwards (and a right old dust bowl it was as well ! No wonder Clarrie wasn't bothered we were on it !) to get all the players autographs !!
