Not actually a tornado, more a funnel

Went on an airport run late last night, as soon as I hit the M60 it started bucketing down. Typical eh

It is effectively a tornado, just that it didnt tuch down on the ground
Apparently were quite lucky to have seen them because if they had formed on a storm system which was raining we wouldnt have been able to see it!!
When I found out there were Tornado's in the Lancashire area I was gutted, its a life long ambition to witness a Tornado, and not see soo it was quite dissapointing!

yes it would have been a tornado if it had touched the ground but it didnt

I remember as a youngest, being driven around the Lakes and seeing one of these lifting up the water on a reservoir.

According to the TV this morning, it has to touch ground to be a Tornado. If it doesn't touch ground, as was the case yesterday, it's a Funnel. If you mean does Ground = Water, we'll let you have that one

It must of been very close to the ground as well , on North West Tonight somebodys washing line with clothes had been sucked up, that must of been a bit of a shock when they went out to bring it in. Although why somebody had put a line of washing out yesterday is anybodys guess ?
