Wondered when people would get hold of this. I'd say top club is selling the club short on this it's a major coup, I believe the date us when dais team are back from other pre season commitments. Sure the negative noras will find sone cloud in the silver lining

I've got no idea who the opposition will be. It was announced at the AGM by Neil Marsden that an announcement was to be made on Monday about the game.

If the club wanted to keep it quiet, then NM wouldn't have mentioned it and all those at the AGM would have been non the wiser about the game. Having said that it would appear that at least one other SVer knows who the opposition is. Maybe you should ask him......

By coming on here, tapping your nose and saying we've got a prestige games builds up people hope. People think of a prestige game being against something of the like of Man Utd or Liverpool.

When it's annouced, and it's not against those teams, there will be people who have made assumptions who are left disappointed.

Far better to have left it to be a grand announcement, but then, what do I know?

People won't be disappointed!! After a rather poor season it will be something too look forward to and kick next season off properly, it will be the prestige game we lacked last year. I could give more clues but like I said sone people at the club have worked very hard on this and cultivated over a significant period of time, they deserve the credit for this big time.

Some people on here who have made little snipes could well end up with egg on their face tomorrow, be interesting to see what they say when it breaks.

I do think that sometimes Neil (unintentionally) brings it on himself. The original post did read as a "I know something you don't" comment and was bound to have that reaction from some people. If the initial post had the background comment contained in the second, he wouldn't have got 'flamed' or ignored. It was announced at the AGM by Neil Marsden that a prestige pre-season game against a top club has been confirmed. An announcement will be made on Monday about the game. would have been informative and interesting, without some people misinterpreting the post.
