Kenny Lowe had one game for Morecambe in 1987/88 (still counts as an Ex Shrimp though!), more famous for his time across The Bay ..... quality player.

Some quotes from Scunthorpe:

“Duffy didn't seem all that tired to me, he was our only player willing to run in the right direction and our only outlet.”
“Taking Duffy off for Collins ?..does make you question his mental state and what the hell he was trying to do.Why not just change things about and stick Gordon left wing,Duffy on the right and at least have a go.”

“coinciding with the introduction of collins, and the loss of our only outlet in Duffy. spot on baraclough. well done.”

“Miller and Garner both linked up well at times and Duffy looked very good,he was impressive.”

“Forte and Duffy on the wings running at players would have caused a lot problems for teams, especially on bigger pitches with space in behind.”
“If Bristol City did pay the £300k reported (for Woolford) - I would have taken it - nay snapped their hands off.
Already to me, Duffy looks a better all rounder...”

“Duffy, Garner and Miller only players to come out with any credit. Credit to Bara for his transfer dealings, they're the only players who seemed to believe they could get back in the game.”
“Duffy is the only player who deserves to be paid.”

* ...and, from Hull fans: “When Duffy sent one in you scored.... The only lad to come out with any real credit was Duffy.... although he faded...”
“The kid Duffy looked ok, but wasn't getting enough supply... he had the pace to beat Dawson,”

Duffs seems to be getting rave reviews at Scunny, which is good and bad to hear; I like to see a former player doing well but also we have not won a match since he left.

I had wondered how effective he has actually been given that he seems to be substituted most games after the hour mark. Reading those comments it appears that the Scunny fans would rather he wasn't withdrawn.

Sri Lankan pace bowler Lasith Malinga has become the second player in as many days to take a World Cup hat-trick, during a six-wicket haul against Kenya.

Malinga achieved the feat in a spell of four wickets in six balls as Kenya were dismissed for 142 in Colombo.

This is Malinga's second World Cup hat-trick, after he took four South African wickets in four balls in 2007.

It is also the seventh hat-trick to be taken at a World Cup.

India's Chetan Sharma took the first against New Zealand in 1987, which was followed by Saqlain Mashtaq's treble for Pakistan against Zimbabwe 12 years later.

Well ..... former 'Morecambe player' anyway.

do you remember when Chetan nearly caused a riot at Stanley Park ? He ran out one of the Blackpool batsman who was backing up too far without having first given him a warning.

Does anyone know anything about the Warburtons Fred and his sons George and James who played for us in the 30s and 40s?
Fred managed Holland for quite a long time and I would like to find out more about the family.
Please PM me if you have anything.

Wiki's always good for a quick start...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Warburton

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_War ... _born_1915)

Although it shows the name Joe and not James as his other son.

Thanks for that. I was wondering if people knew anything about the family themselves and if there are any relatives in this area still?

Just about to watch Eastleigh v Macclesfield on BT.

Stanners could be on Eastleigh's team and I think we have a former player on the Macc team.
