As we won't go down this season (although it gets more worrying by the game) he can go with his head held high in the summer, which is what I expect will happen. He's left us a great legacy, a place in the Football League for which we'll all be eternally grateful and some great moments. However he's in danger of spoiling that legacy through poor decisions, bad player acquisitions and a sadly weak rapport with the fans. He showed at Stockport that once he's in the stink he can't get out of it and the decent continues until the inevitable.

If he does go now then I think a new manager could get a lot out of what should be a very good side. It's clear they need some inspiration from somewhere to turn this corner. A new broom might also be more inclined to bring Stanners back, who we know Sammy didn't fall out with but just didn't think was good enough. Again I think its unlikely this will happen now unless Sammy and / or the board genuinely believe it will increase our chances of escaping the relegation zone.

After a poor first year at the Globe, with attendances on the decline and the likelihood of yet another major overhaul of players in the summer (which shouldn't be happening) I think its inevitable that change will come, even if our form improves.

If Sammy goes, I just hope the board appoint a new man who has a belief in youth. I know I'm a broken record on this subject, but having sorted out the club's future of the pitch with a new stadium, the board now need to seriously look at securing our future on it. I honestly don't see how a neverending 1 or 2 year conveyor belt of older 'experienced' lower league journeymen is ever going to do that. Yes, as we saw with Duffy, youth players, if good enough, tend to move on but at least we should make some money out of it. It only takes one absolute gem every 4 or 5 years to earn a club a few hundred thousand, which I believe would more than pay for any initial outlay.

I wish I knew, but another ever more popular way of conducting business in the football world these days is the 'undisclosed fee' so I suspect only those on the business side of the club will ever know. It will probably be significantly less than we could have got for a Duffy with more time left on his contract and therefore probably less than his relative worth. However, it is clearly much more than the £10K we turned down for Garry Thomson at the same time of the season in the same kind of situation a few years ago.

As I have no idea who you are, you can type a figure if you like but all it would be unless you revealed your source would speculation.

Technically 0 x 3 is still 0 ;) I think I understand what you mean, in which case you're suggesting £30K.

STAY - If Sammy, Mark & Jim are confident they can keep us up. If not then the board have to act swiftly.

If Sammy leaves for whatever reason, and can we afford to pay him off, Mark L will probably leave, Jim is not yet ready, can we afford John Coleman ?

I repeat that Stockport County axed Paul Simpson and look doomed.

Do we want to be next ?

Stockport County are doomed for reasons just as much, if not more, due to off-field issues though. They are comparable to Darlington last season in that regard. I don't believe anyone was ever likely to save them this season, but their board did what they believed they had to do to give themselves a better chance. We're in a completely different position as a football club and for that reason, you can't compare the situations ourselves and Stockport are in.

To be fair they looked doomed anyway.

Ideal situation would be for some-one from outside the club to come in with JB as his assistant sadly not much chance of that happening because whoever comes in will have their own ideas on how they want to run things with their own staff.
