Gutted

I really thought for the first 20 we were the better side but a needless couple of free kicks given away by Charnock changed everything.

Our heads went down and we seemed short of ideas as to what to do.

Second half started a bit better then we reverted to long hopeful punts in the air to our strikers who up to then had been completly ineffective.

DC came on and we all hoped beyond hope that we would do something but the long ball propelled to the front continued. Lost count of the number of second balls we lost.

Then their 3rd and game over!

Wilows pen miss just about summed up todays performance.

Is it time for Sammy to go? For me it's time he looked at himself and asked does he really feel that he can get us out of this relegation dog fight, because we are certainly in one now. He got us promoted, I don't want him to go down as the one to take us down. I'd rather he said enough is enough and handed over to Jimbo and Mark. A respectful departure from the pressure. He deserves that if nothing else.

Today Oxford were another team who played the game simply and on the deck. Giving us a footballing lesson in the process. We have the players more than capable of doing the same. But for some reason we continue with the the hopeful long ball that plays time after time into a defences hands.

And finally (for now) please cut out the long diagonal passes from Drummy they create very little and towards the end their accuracy was off. As for our corners...a complete wate of time!

Gutted!

Will Mark stay if Sammy went? They are a good team and have been a duo for 3 teams.

I wasn't at the game but I'm not even a little surprised by this. I've seen Charnock play twice, once after he got rave reviews, and twenty minutes after seeing him play for the first time, away at Shrewsbury, I didn't rate him. He repeatedly lunges into challenges when it's simply not necessary, and because of this we have conceded numerous penalties and, today, set pieces that had led to goals. He is a glorified Darran Kempson, and nothing more. Frankly, Jimbo and McCready are better defenders in my book. Hell, Arts was a better defender.

But Sammy's hardly likely to drop the guy given he's been after him for 2 years. Still, maybe that sums up his judgement.

am of that conclusion now.. Charnock looks comfortable on the ball and he's very mobile but the rest of his game needs some work

he should now be dropped and replaced by Bentley or McCready

wouldnt have said the better side for the first 20 mins, looked as though they might be capable of a result perhaps but Oxford were a stronger, more commited side, more physical, taller, better at playing the passing game and keeping possession, looked sharper etc, Morecambe had some good moves but very weak up front, the first goal was shocking defending, 6 red shirts plus the keeper against 5 Oxford, their guy pulls back a little, no one tracks him and he is on his own in the area with the ball, then manages to find another unmareked player who taps in, incredible, agree re Charnock, not his best game, thought Capaldi did well but needs to get better crosses over, DC came on ( i thought we were 3-0 down at theat point, obviosly only brought on to get the crowd on Sammys side as it was game over, poor crowd outsung by a noisey Oxford contigent, all round bad day............were the photographers taking Sammys last Morecambe photos, for the last 15 mins seemed to have lenses trained on the bench rather than the game............

I'd bring Jimbo back into the side for his leadership alone - the defence are all over the place and that was epitomised by the first goal which was a defensive shambles. The problem is, Jimbo can't marshall our defense forever so who will step up? Everyone keeps saying Parrish is our future captain but it's bollocks - he is a great player but not a leader!

We need to stop leaking goals for fun before we even think about sorting out our attacking problems otherwise we're wasting our time.

We were the better team untill oxford scored again from poor defending in fact I don't think there was too much differnce between the sides in terms of performance it was just Oxford took their chances and it got them the result.
