So then, where do we go from here? Not playing badly, leaking goals and not scoring enough, who'd be a manager?!

Look at the team which played against Dagenham last season in the playoffs. Sammy would have looked at that team and thought how could he improve it. The defence this year in my opinion is better than the one which got us in the playoffs, theres more pace in it for starters, yet we're conceding more goals than ever before. Andy Parrish will be sold in a few seasons if he carries on, absolutely class at centre half. The midfield has been improved with the additions of Fleming & Brown. However, somewhat bizarrely we are struggling to score goals despite a strikeforce (Jevons & Mullin) scoring 30 + (??) between them last season, aided by a few from midfield. Too many fans harp on about this supposed comment from the manager regarding this squad being the best he's had since he joined the club. On paper it is a squad that has been improved on the one that finished strong last season. Quite why we have failed to perform consistently this season remains a bit of a mystery, especially when most fans would probably pick the starting eleven that Sammy sends out most weeks. He's also not going to say its a good squad but it needs a few more additions.... :D

I think we've made real strides as a club over the last few seasons and as Lills pointed out, this is probably the only season whereby we havent lived up to expectation. The managers credentials are being questioned by many at the moment, justifiably so as he's the boss and the buck stops with him, but I think there are too many fans who take for granted what Sammy McIlroy has achieved for this football club.

A good post mate - IMO Sammy is hanging on purely due to the success of Wembley & last seasons play-offs. Why is everyone so full of "in Sammy we trust" when really they are just saying "better the devil you know" ? No wins in 4 now despite numerous signings. A few small runs this season, and a few good results, but no consistency - we can't go on like this for ever, surely?!?!

No wins in 4? Don't make things better than they are  No wins in 6.

When we got them 3 wins in a row it was like finally we don't have to talk about relegation anymore and can look at trying to get top half like we always do. But where would we be without them great wins

The remaining games in February are all tough on paper, Northampton, Oxford, Macclesfield and Chesterfield, bit I think our season will rest on what happens in March.
April is really tough with away games at Rotherham, Gillingham, Crewe and Port Vale, but March is the month when we HAVE TO pick up points.
Home to mid table Southend, away at Bury (yes, a tough ask!) then home to Bradford, away at Barnet, home to Macclesfield and home to Wycombe.
Those three games in particular, Bradford, Barnet and Macclesfield are where it's at. 9 points and we'll probably be okay, but knowing Morecambe we'll probably beat the top teams and blow this theory out of the water!
So, it's a win at Chesterfield, thrash Bury away, and away wins at Rotherham and Gillingham! :)
