o/t Facebook ads

Postby Castaway » Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:35 am

Having worked in the online advertising space I've really intrigued by the facebook ads that appear from the sun advertising Morecambe Vs Lincoln tickets. Is anyone else getting targeted with those ads? I doubt this is a coincidence so i'm guessing they either target based on hometown address or the groups you've joined?

Fair play though as the ads are relevant, interesting and will make the facebook tech boffs who invented it very rich.

Cheers seasider. Just a little bit of further research and a text from a another shrimp confirm the targeting is based on the groups you sign up (food for thought!).

For the interest of any of the other ecom boffs - Revenue per unique user:

Amazon - $189
eBay - $39
Google - $24
facebook $4

I predict facebook will start making ground on google over the next 12 months.
Anyway - for those who havent seen the offer http://apps.facebook.com/sunfootball/

Have you ever wondered how a free service can be valued at US$50 Billion? Of course adverts are targeted and they're not trying to hide the fact;
