Our Longest Name on a Shirt

...is currently Cowperthwaite? although you don't get to see it very often. Maybe it is to save money on the lettering as most of our players have short names :o

There was a player last night that must have kept the printers busy and had actually asked to simply have "David" instead but without any luck

Double barreled names should'nt really count but how on earth would they have coped with "Edson Arantes do Nascimento"?

In the Saudi Arabian league all the players are called Mohammed, or Ahmed, or Ali, or a mixture of the three.
Then they go to Mecca, and when they come back they add Haji or El Haj to their name. Then when they feel like it they drop all their names in a hat and change the order round. You can't get confused by their birthdays though, as they're all 1 January
My youngest lad works for the UK Visa bods, and is a Risk Assessment Officer in Riyadh. he has great fun!

And my personal favourite......

Oleg Blagonadezdins of Latvia.

Listening to the pundits (commentators had usually spent all morning practising) trying to get their mouths round that, then giving up and then calling him 'the big number 6' - was a highlight of the Euro 2004 tournament for me.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Going off at a bit of a tangent, I remember this guy scoring for Gemany in a World Cup.....

Think it was Motty who then proceeded to say, "and the German's have scored! Kuntz !!!"
