Can you help on Boxing Day?

Can you help on Boxing Day?

Postby quinny » Sat Dec 25, 2010 1:24 pm

THE Shrimps are asking fans for their help on Boxing Day.

Supporters are being asked to help clear snow off the covers of the Globe Arena pitch as the club makes every effort to get the game against Aldershot on Tuesday on.

Chief Executive Rod Taylor said: "We would like fans to get the Globe from 10.30am onwards with shovels and wheelbarrows if they have them to help clear the pitch.

"Although we don't know for sure that the weather will do over the next couple of nights we want to do all we can to give the game every chance of being played.

"All help will be gratefully received.''

Sadly Nerso, not all of our own fans are fully house trained. Sometimes after an unnecessary response we have to rub alwaysright's nose in the post and say "bad alwaysright, no!". It's tough but the only way they can learn.

I was wondering the same myself. I have no doubt that it is the right thing to do, so not a criticism of the excellent ground staff, just a general wondering.

So as Nerso is apparently not allowed to ask a reasonable question, can I?

Maybe as no more snow is expected the ground staff are thinking ...get the snow off the covers then maybe get the blowers under it and lessen the chance of a frozen pitch...... :D

I doubt it. There is more give in my tiled kitchen floor than there is on our pitch! It is a very mild 3 degrees at the moment and as well as burst pipes all over the roads and footpath on the way home, we even had a power cut for a couple of hours

And potentially heavy snow on the way overnight according to the Met Office won't help.

I was at the new christie at 10 thirty, armed with my 13 year old son, and two shovels, we left at 5 o clock, we were well fed by the club with bacon butties and chicken curry, brian fagan worked his balls off with us as did chesh and the other 15 fans , a tidy bird called andrea and her partner or husband called john, cracking bloke, hope its on tuesday, earned me peanuts today neil

Edited out my silly booze fueled comments, apologies to any i offended

I think another 24 hours and we would have been ok. Interesting decision for the Ref today. When he does his test today the pitch won't be payable IMO however listening out of the window you can hear the thaw out with gutters cracking and drips everywhere  By 3pm tomorrow the ice will have gone at the current rate of Globe-al warming.

Minus 1 and snow forecast overnight 8-)
