O/T Winter Wonderland

O/T Winter Wonderland

Postby Christies Child » Sun Nov 28, 2010 7:22 pm

Storth has in the last hour had a minimum 4" of snow and it's still coming down!

What's it like in Morecambe as I've got an appointment in town tomorrow first thing?

If there's the chance of more overnight I'll probably have to cancel as it could be a repeat of last year when I couldn't get out of our village for around 24 hours.

Brrrrrrrr!!!

Just spoken to my Brother in Law who lives in Weardale and he's snowed in with 3' drifts, so he's working from home looking after his re-cycling business in Gateshead which has also come to a halt due to the conditions on the roads North of Newcastle.

Mind you the idiot does live high up in a converted farm house......so serves him bloody well right!

We've difficulty getting out of village this morning so given Morecambe a miss until later in the week.....possibly Thursday then I can go onto the game. :)

I lived on the Ridge when I was a likkle lad.
I remember the canal being frozen over, and the ice thick enough to risk skating on Bonfire Night.

Well I live as far west in Newcastle as you can go before being in rural Northumberland. Not a single bus has been this way today and most cars are getting stuck. For the first time since the early 90s (in Morecambe) I'm actually snowed in.

Take the train, running fine all the way to Sheffield at the moment whereas 2 lanes of M62 are closed due to a jack-knifed lorry and Snake's closed. That's before it gets busy.
