Northampton Football Club need to seriously get their act together in future
people could have set off and driven straight into trouble on the M6
didnt take a genius to know this game was never going to have a chance

Disagree.
The advice from them that really know was, and still is, unless your journey is absolutely necessary then don't bother.
The Midlands is some of the highest ground in the country, bad weather is always worse on higher ground, particularly if it's forecast!
There's bound to be accidents on the motorway, and severe disruption.
The outcome of the forecast has been spot-on, and blaming Northampton for ignoring the forecast doesn't mean that you, or anyone else, should ignore sound safety warnings.
It'll be loads of tales of woe on the news of people who are stuck, or had an accident.
The question is: Was their journey absolutely necessary?

No snow whatsoever in Northampton. My mate got to Birmingham and has just turned around as he didn't know game was off. Another had set off from grantham and was arranging to meet up , till I told him it was of. He's not speaking to me now

The team bus was overtaken on his trip down the M6 8-)

Next up away to Macclesfield.

one of the coldest away trips in the country.

Things will have to improve over the next week for that to go ahead.

Everyone over reacts so much because a bit of snow. All the way down the M6 this morning was normal free flowing 60-90mph. Mostly 3 lanes, with the odd stretch of fast lane with too much snow in to drive on it. No problems whatsoever apart from a few mins slow due to a jack knived lorry at 27.

On the BBC news tonight the presenter described the snow fall as 'unexpected' it's been predicted since the last snow fall! How long do we need before we can get it right!? other countries have much worse weather and they cope just fine.

You can't really moan when almost the whole football league fixtures were off.

but with the weather forecast it could have been called off on Friday , they didnt even have an inspection till Saturday.

Not sure how far the team coach had travelled but it is all unnecessary cost.

How many other teams across the country called their games off on the Friday?

a few were called off on Friday.

I think when weather is adverse then there should be a Friday inspection in all matches where a team has to travel over say 120 miles

I seem to recall a similar situation v Shrewsbury when the game was called off at CP and we had to pay their travelling expences......could be wrong of course but ( as usual) doubt it!

I agree, Friday inspections could have been done, but was the majority of the damage not done Friday night? These weather people aren't always right you know.

I am presuming Ockers set off to the game by the sound of his rant.

Looks like there will be a few Tuesday night games in the new year!

we just need Negative Ned to tell us we are doomed because we have played so few away games compared with home games.

if the weather forecast is correct then the match at Macclesfield has very little chance of going ahead.

Which means the rest called them off Saturday morning. Case closed.

To blame Northampton football club is laughable.

The Football League request that the home Club keep the away Club informed 24 hours before the game and check their travel arrangements. They want early pitch inspections during this weather so as not to inconvenience travelling fans. They also state that the Club itself can't abandon the game.
http://bullsnews.blogspot.com/2010/12/i ... ys-fl.html

Hardly any of L1 and L2 games met the above criteria. The weather forecast was fairly accurate, although when it is extreme enough to affect Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool then what chance have we got.?

Can't see the Stoke fans being too happy either :o
