Quite frankly no. Living in Manchester and with work commitments I sadly don't get to as many games as I'd like to these days. I was a season ticket holder for four years and attended as many away matches as possible. I went partly for the football but mainly for the banter, for the atmosphere and the feeling of being part of something... On Saturday none of these three things were in the West Stand and it saddened me. Shrimps fans are a tremendous set of supporters, we all know that but what must have the Crewe Alex lot thought of us on Saturday? It was a poor gate and hideously cold and the results haven't been going our way of late but as far as I'm concerned once you've paid for your ticket you've got a job to do, to sing and support your team and represent your town for 90 minutes. Having said that the chaps at the top of the stand must be commended for their valiant attempts at rallying the crowd throughout the match. I thought the "Take me home to Christe Park" chant was rather amusing. Alas I'm probably not going to get to a game until Boxing Day now so feel free to shoot me down as a part time supporter but it's been playing on my mind... Does anyone else feel the same me?

Its a chicken and egg thing. If the results were better and we were winning all our home games 3-0 would the atmosphere be a lot better with lots of singing etc.

or is the dead atmosphere hampering the team so that they have nothing to feed off when we are up against it.

This is one element of the so called match day experience that we the fans control. Why is it that the we have to be 3 nil up or whatever to trigger proper vocal support for the team. So many people are complaining about the lack of atmosphere and yet it's in our own hands to create it whether we're winning losing or drawing. It shouldn't just be down to the MBW stand the PMG has a part to play as well. There are some very basic chants which people can sing to our clap to wherever you stand/sit.

I actually think the worst atmosphere was against Stockport and we won 5-0 so its not just the performances that are stopping people singing. The main reason its worse this season is that many singers have abandoned the MBW for the luxuries of the PMG stand. Some people in the PMG stand do try to join in but its unsustainable because most won't. There also seems to be a lack of unity in the MBW which we always had in the North Stand. That's my opinion anyway.

This really winds me up! We did try to sing quite alot on Saturday. The dale caverse was in full flow for a while. O think the thing is when people die off and stop singing everyone else does as they don't want to carry onon their own.

Me and several fans have chatted about the atmosphere and do our best to get it going. It can't be done by a group of 10-15 people. Try joining in instead of moaning!

Nothing to do with the pmg stand. Most singers from last year are all still in the mbw.

It was in full flow Sammy, and sounded great whilst it was. Also whoever got the "Sammy Macs Barmy Army" chant going deserves a pat on the back too because that sounded good for the few minutes it lasted.

The "Stand Up If You Love Morecambe" song aimed at the PMG was met with around 5 or 6 people in there standing up !!! Maybe the song was lost in the wind ! Who knows !!

Sammy I know there is a small group of us that always sing, but that can only do so much we need others to join in and I believe that those "others" that are not right in the mix like us are now in the other stand (hence why you can now sometimes see them trying to join in, which never happened at Christie Park!). A good example is someone who posts on here and is now in block C with his wife because she couldnt see in the MBW (sorry cant remember username). I assume the "try joining in" wasn't aimed at me because you know I join in with every single chant.

Dale Cavese was great as usual on sat, while being sung, I agree.

It should be good against Port Vale too because I am sure they will travel in numbers and that usually spurs us on.

I've been to away games where there has only been about 10 of us singing, yet the atmosphere we generated has been really quite good!

What struck me about Saturday was how casual most people's attitude towards the game was. As I'd not been for a while I was massively excited for the match, I'd been thinking about it all week but it didn't feel like an event at all, it felt as if we all happened to be watching some people play football whilst chatting about the night before. It lacked intensity and passion. Not that many people seemed, for want of a better phrase "up for it". I wanted to go mental for 90 minutes... I recall someone talking about making flags? A bit more colour might help the atmosphere? Or a bigger variety of songs? Who knows. Maybe everyone should just get wrecked before hand and go insane..?

Totally agree, when on top and looking like scoring it does get the adrenalin pumping and make you more jumpy and shouty.

Morecambe Jack - I apologise, It didn't mean to look like a rant, I posted it on my mobile, always a hard thing to do.

Just saying that this debate often pops up, I don't think the stand helps, I much prefer the acoustics at CP, I'm sure people have said it is better at the Globe?

I just don't know what more we can do to keep the atmosphere going continuously. Once a few stop singing the rest stop which leaves a few who get rather embarrassed.

We will give it a real big go a week on Saturday and see what happens.

CC - To say that block C is louder is ridiculous. Maybe you are hearing the sound of Prawn sandwiches being crunched and not chants?

At times the MBW is so quiet that the sound of peanuts being crunched in the PMG is deafening!

Can't make the game on Thursday but would be interested to know whether the Bay Radio stand is any better for acoustics and atmosphere than the MBW stand. If so should we looking at making this the home end next season.

We used to get critised at Christie for not making much noise as well.

Crooky Sammy, you guys ae NOT the only ones singing in the MBW, as people around me will confirm.
Outsider stands one side of the goals and sings and I stand the other.
Why do you think it's always empty inbetween us?

When you guys are standing up there, you can only hear your mates singing, trust me there are more.
We need a big red heart painted on the steps behind that goal at the top. The rule should be if you stand in there you gotta sing
I don't think the club would do it, it needs to be sorted by a supporters group.....
Whilst there with the red paint they could do the barriers too

and if you stand in the big red heart and don't sing, stewrds will turn a blind eye and you will get a good kickng

I have to agree with "This charming shrimp", I also heard people talking about what they did the night before. Correct me if im wrong but i go to football to get away from all that kind of stuff. I do it to get behind the players and for 90mins i try to sing. Me and my friend on Saturday were talking about how we use to go home on a Saturday or Tuesday not being able to speak.

And how many times did we literally feel the North Stand bouncing and vibrating beneath our feet ??!! Happy, happy days.

Not saying you don't Mick. The majority of the noise, probably all of it definitely starts from the middle and what I would call our group.

To say that you can't talk about the night before or anything else but football? Are you kidding?
