AN UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH

Postby mrpotatohead » Sun Nov 28, 2010 8:37 am

1700 or so yesterday will drop to 1400 or so midweek in march, our support is dire, a town of 42000 plus with all of cumbria to our right should be bringing in a lot more fans, quid a kid worked but is being largely ignored by the bored, we cannot replace sammy as that would cost, he can only work with the players he can borrow anyway.

Morecambe up to Carnforth down to Overton and out to Caton and Scotforth, all within seven miles is over 130,000 people. If you take this out to Ingleton and then an arc including Kendal, Grange and to Cark you've got over 250,000 people. There's a big market market to target to grow our gates.

.....but to come on a regular basis, we've got to provide some 'home' entertainment. That is after all what the club is in the business of.

why haven't we done the "Kid for a £" again since the Shrewsbury match which was a huge success?

Maybe make it a "kid for £2 quid" if they think £1 is too cheap.

How was the quid-a-kid a success???? It was ment to atract more fans, It hasn't ! Hense 1700 gate, As i stated before I paid £120 quid for 3 kids season tickets would I and every other parent who brought one get a refund? That refund would cost more than the extra made I'm sure.
To get more in we need to Win............ simples

Hmm, Sammy says we played some of the best football all season...
Dario Gradi says Crewe played one of their worst games all season...

So Crewe were awful, we were excellent according to each teams managers? Yet we lost and could have been thrashed if it hadn't been for Roche? First half we were very poor, second half I agree we weren't too bad. We need to play better than that for ninety minutes if we are to produce our traditional turnaround. Hell, we need to play better than that simply to avoid the Blue Square.

The potential is there. Shame we have missed so many tricks since moving to the Globe but this could still be turned round.

The biggest factor though is our home performances and league position. Part-time fans are going to look at the table, remember the last game they saw, look at the opposition and look at the weather before deciding whether or not to go for each game.

I basically agree with you but...

...would you suggest the club refund all the child season tickets that have been bought? If not, those parents will be annoyed at best or stop coming at worst. Either way, you can be pretty sure they won't be buying a season ticket for their kids next season.
