Are we just bad losers?

Had a look on all the teams forums who are at the wrong end of the table.

Hereford fans seem to be right behind their new manager.

Lincoln fans ( who were great again ) are fully behind their team

Accrington fans love what John Coleman is doing at their club.

Barnet fans seem to think that they are going down so lets enjoy it while we can.

Northampton and Gillingham fans are not happy but their forums seem mild compared to ours.

Are we just bad losers?
Should we get behind our team and manager more?
Are we punching above our weight?

i don't think we are bad losers, i think its just frustrating for us when we are playing so badly, for Sammy not to make a change early of get behind the lads and get motivating. Also i think this has been building up after the poor form of our 'best squad' ever.

I say, give Sammy some time, see how it is when everyone is back and the team is upto full strength. If we continue are poor form, i hate to say it but Sammy will have to go. :(

At the end of the day football fans in general are fickle. When we played Bradford they were the worst I have seen all season but since then they have put a few good results together and have stopped moaning a bit. Stockport were crap when we played them but won at Bury yesterday :o . Macclesfield and Crewe are also winning a few so the fans are onside.
Gillingham had a good home record but havn't won away for years - yesterday they lost at home, as did Chesterfield so their fans are now twitching as they expected to walk this tinpot League.

Wolves fans yesterday were leaving in droves after they went 3.0 down. They missed their teams 2 goal comeback as they walked across the car park

Mancini was booed at Eastlands for taking Tevez off as they could'nt score even having spent a billion pounds. Meanwhile you just knew Man. Utd. would bounce back at Villa cos that's what they do.

We do need to have a word with ourselves and get some smiles back on faces. Yesterday was our lowest gate at the Globe. No matter how nice the new stand is and how comfy the chairs are, if we don't pick up on the pitch as the cold and rain sets in we will be down to sub 2000 very shortly although I think at the moment Sammy would rather play behind closed doors.

No longer can we rely on 2 teams being so much worse than us and 2 or 3 teams on minus points at the beginning of the season.

That's the point, he's their new manager. Go on their board after the first few games and it was a VERY different story.

Since Sutton left (notice the common theme?) they have started to show signs of promise and they won yesterday. Hardly surprising to see them fully behind their team!

Yes, and that is fully deserved. He also respects the fans and doesn't berate them for having an opinion based on seeing players once every 2 weeks.

halftimeresults wrote:Barnet fans seem to think that they are going down so lets enjoy it while we can.

They have been treading water for years. It was always likely to happen eventually. Slightly different to us given we're a club with ambitions of being in a higher league.

Gillingham are a club in real trouble financially and their fans know it. I somehow suspect Northampton fans will be baying for blood if their predicament continues for much longer.

In conclusion, you can't really compare us with other teams because their circumstances are all somewhat different.

Not bad losers. Nobody can mind if we lose if we give it a good go at winning.

I am a bad loser, and I don't mind admiting it!

I work hard all week with the football on my mind and It keeps me going, then I see us play like that and I think why do I bother?

I think we need to adopt the American way of thinking in this country as a whole

Winning IS everything, 2nd place is 1st loser!

That isn't our short term goal though, is it? We don't have a God given right to be pushing for the playoffs each year. Once we are fully settled into the Globe and it brings in more revenue, perhaps we will be able to increase the playing budget and then look towards going up a level.

If the chance is there you have to take it.

Absolutely, but I don't think the boards minimum expectation this year would be to get in the playoffs and likewise I don't think our expectations should be either. That doesn't mean we are not hoping for that, we all hope to win the league but hope and expectations are two different things.

Absolutely. I can accept losing when we're the poorer team but get stuck in, but when we don't take advantage of our superiority in the first 20 minutes, concede from 2 consecutive set pieces and don't put in a good enough shift in front of a largely working class crowd it really rankles to say the least.

I am a bad loser, it takes me a few days to get over a defeat, particularly when we lose because of a gutless performance. No point in going out to lose or draw. Win-win should be the only options offered.

Of course we should get behind our team and manager more...perhaps the team and manager should help us out and give us more to cheer about?

We are where we should be, the results are patchy and in general disappointing, so we are near the bottom. We have a good squad (depends on who you talk to) with a well respected management team, so we could punch a lot harder.

Almost everyone is a bad loser if you think about it. No-one goes to a game thinking 'oh I hope my team loses today' every football fan goes into a match thinking their team can get something from the game no matter who the opposition is.
