Should Sammy have given Stewart a 15 minute debut last night when we had a comfortable lead?

Personally I would have given him the opportunity to play in a first team game when it was all over just to give him the experience. He might not be up to a full debut yet, but an appearance last night could have been a taster of things to come, both for himself and the management.

Until you test younger players, you don't know if they are up to it.

Yes, possibly. Or maybe even only 5 minutes.

Just to give the lad a run out and, as you pointed out in an earlier post CC, to make him feel wanted.

I would have liked to seen him have a run out. Never seen him play.

Sammy would be thinking more about players closer to a starting position (e.g Flemming) though to bring on in such situations to hopefully build up their confidence. Shame you only get three subs!

Personally I would prefer us to be giving our own youngsters a run out in that situation rather than someone elses. That said, with the conditions being the way they were it probably wouldn't have been the biggest confidence boost for him but you would hope he would relish the chance regardless.

Just think that sometimes the manager needs to worry more about the ego of our 'star' players such as Flemming in a match such as last night. After the start he made to the season, his confidence currently, could be more fragile than Hendrie's.

Football management and psychology is a tricky business!

imo Stewart Hendrie isnt good enough and to lightweight.....

but why did sm bring him in

IMO the priority in our situation is to get our most potent threat in front of goal match fit and full of confidence, which is what 90 minutes will have done for Phil Jevons last night, who would have been the likely victim had Stuart come on.
