Only to play him up front :o

Crewe wouldn't sell him as he is one of their best players, captain and on a 2 year deal.

Was meant to reply to CC's thread about Crewe's strikers going out on loan they prob don't get a look in cos Artell is scoring all the time

Difficult one that.

I wish we had retained him but we didn't.

I think McCready and Parrish are better and more mobile defenders but neither are likely to weigh in with 9 goals at the other end. Hopefully they will prevent more goals than Arts may have scored so on the balance probably no.

Our main problem in defence is finding a fast strong tough-tackling right back who can overlap and deliver good crosses. Now if Yates was available........ :?:

Interesting, I always thought he was pretty solid at the back as well. Mainly his distribution skills people moaned about.
Personally the answer to my question is yes, obviously not a lot of money but i'd have him back in a heart beat.

Yes and play him alongside McCready and move Parrish to right back.

Most definaely NOT.

Good for clearing into Row Z but otherwise his distribution was awful.

ALL money available should be spent on bringing in a hungry striker or even somebody on loan from a Premiership club such as Everton.... ;)

Funny how everyone has said no, but in previous posts have sung his praises and said they want him back?

Just for his sheer aerial presence I would say YES.

but would you pay a transfer fee for him?

when we have little money as it is and desperately need to attract a quality all-round striker what can both use his feet and head and run with the ball unlike what we have now ?

Didn't read the initial post properly. As cc said. If we do have any money, it should be spent on a striker.

Top of the list has to be a striker, I wouldn't be surprised if one comes in on loan..maybe from a north west Liverpudlian club?? ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I think its well known that we are bringing in a striker on loan from a blue shirted premier league team who play at Goodison Park and are nicknamed the Toffees, but I can't confirm anything. I'm positively unsure, adamantly confused. Either it will happen or it won't, but it definitely will. YW

No chance, our central defenders are good enough, we need a right back

Nor would I approve having Ronaldo Howe back

Bring on the toffee nosed redeemer :?

Can anyone offer a reason why a specialist right full back is allowed to leave which means we are left with a midfield player playing right back or a centre back playing right back?
Totally mystifying.

This would not happen with a proper Manager in charge. !

Rene Howe was very good when he could be arsed - the goal against Bradford for example. Problem was, he didn't do that sort of thing too often.

Darren Moss is worse at right back that Garry Hunter or Andy Parrish.
