MINDLESS MANAGER

Postby Pobble » Mon Sep 27, 2010 3:49 pm

When are the small group of fanatics who worship SM going to see the light and finally realise that only when we get rid of that waste of space will things start to improve.
He was not the reason we got promoted, he inherited the team.
He was the reason we lost in last seasons play-offs, his tactics stank.
He is the reason we are wallowing near the bottom of the league now, his team selection and substitutions are straight out of Peter Kays joke book.
His system of acquiring players that are not wanted by other clubs is the best way to make fools of us who pay money to enter The Globe.
I don`t suppose he is the reason why we have not got a scoreboard but we might as well blame him for that as well.
Finally, although he was an Irish international there were only about 20 players to chose from, even Morecambe have 23 if you call Capaldi a player.
Get real everybody.

Totally uncalled for. For me (and others around me in Block C) his only mistake was to give the ball away for their goal. Maybe he was told to employ the long ball.....ever thought of that?

:)

Quality rant.

Hey, look, I don't know of anyone who is an SM fanatic (well, if you mean Sammy Mcilroy anyway ;) ) but there are some who will point to the facts when others take the opportunity of a few bad results to call for his head.

You point to his tactics as a reason for us losing the play-off game - whose tactics got us to fourth in the first place? (the highest ever position in our entire history).

Yes he inherited much of JH's team (and I've always been a massive JH fan, still am, think he's still an utter MFC legend) but who got us promoted after just a year and a bit in charge when Jim had failed to do that in the many years he was boss? 'Maybe' Jim would have as well but the fact is that he didn't and Sammy did.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

HE Pobble who has no toes
Had once as many as we;
When they said, "Some day you may lose them all,"
He replied, "Fish fiddle de-dee!"
And his Aunt Jobiska made him drink
Lavender water tinged with pink;
For she said, "The World in general knows
There's nothing so good for a Pobble's toes!"

The Pobble who has no toes
Swam across the Bristol Channel;
But before he set out he wrapped his nose
In a piece of scarlet flannel.
For his Aunt Jobiska said, "No harm
Can come to his toes if his nose is warm;
And it's perfectly known that a Pobble's toes
Are safe--provided he minds his nose."

The Pobble swam fast and well,
And when boats or ships came near him,
He tinkledy-blinkledy-winkled a bell
So that all the world could hear him.
And all the Sailors and Admirals cried,
When they saw him nearing the farther side,
"He has gone to fish for his Aunt Jobiska's
Runcible Cat with crimson whiskers!"

But before he touched the shore--
The shore of the Bristol Channel,
A sea-green Porpoise carried away
His wrapper of scarlet flannel.
And when he came to observe his feet,
Formerly garnished with toes so neat,
His face at once became forlorn
On perceiving that all his toes were gone!

And nobody ever knew,
From that dark day to the present,
Whoso had taken the Pobble's toes,
In a manner so far from pleasant.
Whether the shrimps or crawfish gray,
Or crafty mermaids stole them away,
Nobody knew; and nobody knows
How the Pobble was robbed of his twice five toes!

The Pobble who has no toes
Was placed in a friendly Bark,
And they rowed him back and carried him up
To his Aunt Jobiska's Park.
And she made him a feast at his earnest wish,
Of eggs and buttercups fried with fish;
And she said, "It's a fact the whole world knows,
That Pobbles are happier without their toes."

That must of took you hours to compose Pobble.
To say you are out of order is abit of understatement and i think if you look back, he didnt inherit the team at all!
I have alot of respect for Jim Harvey but it was plain to see, under Sammy, we became alot more organised.

Posted = on Sep 27, 2010 4:49 pm - You cant exactly blame this on being pissed up either.

Just some stats for those who say the team/squad that got us promoted was 'inherited':

Make of these what you will. (Out of the squad, 16 were brought in by Sammy (bold), and 14 were inherited (italics); the ratio was 5 new to 9 inherited that played in the final (underlined) against Exeter. SM = Signed by Sammy)

On that subject would the "starting eleven" in the Football League of 2007 be classed as a worse "team" than we have now

2007....2010
Lewis...Roche
Yates...Parrish
Adams...Capaldi
Artell....McCready
Bentley...Haining
Stanley....Scott
Twiss.....Rundle
Hunter....Brown
Curtis/Blinkhorn.....Mullin
Baker.....Jevons
Thompson..Duffy

Subs
Allen......Bentley
Sorvel.....Hunter
McLachlan....Stanley
Newby......Shuker
Howard.....Fleming
...............Drummond
...............Wainwright
...............Spencer
...............Wilson
...............Hendrie
...............Moss

For me it's the bench that has the extra now, just a shame we don't seem to make the most of it :?

Of the 2007 selection the only ones I'd have back would be Thommo (despite getting frustrated at him some times) and Baker with possibly the MrT of old!
