A goalkeeper as Captain?

Superb as Baz is, I'm never convinced that a goalkeeper should be the Captain.

No doubt I'll be slated by some for even questioning it, but for me a Captain has to have a presence in ALL areas of the pitch to have a quiet 'go' if his colleagues need a kick up the arse.

I agree with you, i think Stanners should be the captain, he would definetly give them a rollocking, and in the future it has to be Parrish :)

Did you notice when the ref kept calling the players over for a chat Drummond had to keep going over, that shows having a keeper as captain doesn't work as he can't be there to defendhis players and talk to the ref.

I agree that it isn't working with Barry as captain but I'm not seeing leadership qualities in Parrish like some people. Obviously Drummond has done it before so you would assume he would get it when he plays. What has happened to Jim Bentleys group huddle before kick off?

It really worried me on saturday that we have very poor communication throughout the team. A number of times passes were made to unexpecting players, multiple players would attack the same ball and the defence were not talking to each other at all which meant we were not clearing the danger.

used to like the team doing the huddle, gave me, as a fan, the feeling they had a plan :!:

Given that sammy says we are down to bare bones, jimbo could have a look in :?:

I dont think Stanley would have the respect of the players in the same way Jimbo does, yeh he can shout but it'd probably annoy more players than it'd inspire.

Drummy would be captain for me. Done it before, done it admirably, let him do it again.

With respect to Barry, a captain needs to be in the middle orchestrating things and b*ll*cking where required.

The thing is the Captain needs to be playing week in, week out to build up leadership responsibiliities and respect. Barry and Andy Parrish are probably the only 2 who can claim to be able to do this.
Hence Barry, with all due respect, is Captain I.M.O.

Surely the most proven Captain in the team would be Drummond, and with two goals in two games doesn't look like being dropped very soon!

And unlucky not to score 2 on Saturday as well with that shot that grazed the crossbar minutes after his goal !
