....and if you follow the links to Rochdale's failed attempts to date to sign a quality striker you can appreciate how difficult it must be for Sammy to be able to compete when you consider the locality of our club which to some players may be just that bit too far to travel as well as (possibly?) the wages needed to secure that elusive proven striker.

We'd all like a 20 goals a season striker, none more so that Sammy and the Board I'm sure, but their availability seems in short supply. Maybe looking at the likes of the lads from Celtic and Linfield (although I understand that he has now decided to sign for another Irish club) are the way forward for us.....at the moment.

Without question, more goals from midfield is paramount this coming season. I'm personally expecting big things from both Carl Baker and newcomer Michael Carr to go some way to provide those extra goals from midfield.

Interesting times ahead......that's for sure.

He is the kind of midfielder that we are crying out for but couldnt afford. For me, he was the best player who played against us last season.

Word from the horses mouth is usually good enough to end any other speculation,

He goes to Colchester on Monday ;)

He looked over the moon at the prospect of going a League higher, said he'd be crossing swords with Thommo and playing at my home town club, with the extra income maybe he's either looking to relocate or he's bought his own jet

Good luck to Perks wherever he ends up.

Always gave 100% for us.

Thought the very small minority of people who did boo him last season were completely out of order.

Good luck to Perkins if he is to move onwards and upwards. Always gave his all when he was with us and its nice to see him doing well.

If he or Thompson were to return to Christie with their new clubs in the coming months/years, i certainly wouldn't boo either. Both players came through the ranks and have done alot for our club.

Here here

It's usually the younger generation that do the booing.

Booing Darren Kempson last season was uncalled for and out of order. He gave his all for the club as well.

I just don't see the need to boo ex-players who have tried to better themselves higher up the league or any ex-players for that matter.

I'm saying all this and i've just thought of a couple of players (Lee Elam and Dean Howell)who might be worth a bit barracking, but booing, I don't think so.

Darren Kempson was a little different, he left the club owing people within the club money.

Someone from the physio side of things asked us to give him stick. ;)

I thought he was a good player who served us well, whilst here.

Giving someone a bit of stick is ok. Minus the swearing of course. It's not big and it's not clever. Although the occasional expletive may slip out. Usually when there is a bad tackle or the referee gives an incorrect decision.

It's the booing I do not like.

I too dislike booing, especially of ex players we cheered when playing for us.

There has been times when a player for an opposing team has - granted sometimes as a reaction- used expletives or hand gestures to incite our crowd and people boo them.

How about when a player cheats and dives his way through a game and gets a game turning decision in his favour, would you not boo him then?

Now, when they get constant x rated abuse I don't blame them for their reaction, but sometimes it's an over the top reaction.
We've never seen an Eric Cantona type reaction but there's no excuse for some reactions.

Neither fans nor players are saints, let's face it.

What did Dean Howell ever do to deserve abuse from us? Granted he was bloody awful but just because someone who played for us was crap doesn't mean he deserves abuse.

No I would not boo him. I would shout at him. Hopefully without swearing.

Your right none of us are saints. But we could all try and keep the swearing to a minimum.
The swearing in our songs I don't like.

I also don't like the constant aggressive singing aimed at the opposition instead of getting behind our team.
