Just got in from the game. For a change I could be arsed to travel up the Northern Line and it was a good day out. Nice to hear some accents from home.

I didn't see our goal because I was being mugged £2.20 for a pie. Disgrace.

On the whole it was an average game where we only threatened a few times, and Barnet had a couple of shots which probably should have gone in.

I was a bit disappointed with some of our own fans though, goading the Barnet supporters with songs about having no points and "going down". After last year when they were our best mates I thought it was out of order. Apparently there were a few unnecessary "This Is England" style comments made by someone too. The fact that Morecambe supporters fight each other on the terraces for potentially giving the club a bad reputation is much better to see than kicking off with the opposition. It is rather gentlemanly I would say.

I would like to defend myself here, i made myself an account on here just because i knew that people would be talking about this. I was thrown out of the ground yesterday during interchanging of words/signs with a few of the home fans. I went to barnet last year and i also went again this year hoping for the same kind of experience. When we got their last year we were singin songs for barnet aswell as morecambe and they was doing the same back, this year all we got back when we sang to them at first was home fans laughin at us and they wasnt interested in us at all, unlike last season. Back onto the point when i was chucked out, i think its fair enough if i get chucked out for making signs to the home fans but if that applies to me why doesnt it apply for the home fans who stayed in the ground all the game for doing the same as what i did. I could accept it if both sets of fans got the same 'punishments' but for some reason that didnt happen.

I thought that was a good point, considering they should of put 3 or 4 of their chances away. Towards the end they must have had around 6 corners, it was mad!

I dont know whats worse. The fact that you embarrassed our club by getting thrown out or the fact that you are unrepentant.

I wasnt there, but I heard from someone that was there that you were rightly thrown out. I also heard that there were chants of 'You're going down' to the Barnet fans. To do that to a set of fans that showed us the ultimate respect welcoming us to League football just beggars belief. No doubt someone will post that it was 'Just banter'. I dont buy that.

I knew people would be talking about this as well, with the same old shrimpsvoices mountain-out-of-a-molehill stuff, highlighting the negatives of an otherwise brilliant day once more and justifying everything quinny said. This lad is not "unrepentant" nor is he a "young twit". Speaking to him about it after the game and all the way home, he knew he had made a mistake and will learn from it and thats all you can ask. This was totally out of character and to spark debate on a messageboard about football over an isolated incident is wrong and unfair on the lad.

You're narrow-minded views on away days and young people make you come across "a complete pr**k".

I WAS there yesterday. From what I saw, and what I can gather from people who were also at the game, the lad was a bit unlucky. There was a bit of a row between 2 of our supporters, nothing to do with the Barnet fans- which attracted attention to them. Then a Barnet fan made a gesture at this lad, who retaliated and the stewards jumped on him like he was a mass murderer. He wasn't going to be thrown out for anything until he lost his temper with the policeman who was escorting him away.
As for the banter with the Barnet fans, I wasn't involved in it, but could hear it all. It was all light humoured and done for a laugh, there was no malice. I also have lots of friends who are Barnet fans, who, in the bar after the game laughed it off as you would expect because thats football, and thats what happens.

I can assure you, the mods don't need to stick together! Nor do we post as "mods" except to explain why messages have been zapped or edited, otherwise, we post for ourselves, as we see fit. You will find times when myself & Mark disagree with each other over matters regarding foortball etc.

In this instance, I didn't actually pass a comment that supported anyone, I was simply reflecting upon what had been written. Are you disputing what Jody wrote or is that a fair summary of what happened?

And if it is a fair summary, do you think it is acceptable behaviour?

I argued with ben because of something we disagreed on i dont see why that is a problem, people have disagreements and then are friends again after that, i had a chat with ben after the game and everything was ok, it was just an disagreement that got a bit out of hand.

And yes i did 'gesture' at the barnet fans but that was a reaction to them doing it to me/us, which compared to last season was completly different. Ive said this a few times and i will say it again, i dont think what i did was acceptable but if i am gettin in trouble for this, why dont the home fans aswell, i among with a few others who i have spoken to about it say that if that rule applies to our fans it should surely apply to them?!?

I also did lose my temper with the police which i can accpet was out of hand, and i appologised to John Shaw and the barnet police immediatly after the incident.

For anyone who does know me knows that i am a genuine person and not normally agressive etc. I went to about 12-14 away games last year and caused no trouble and i will carry on going to away games this year without anything like yesterday happening again

Jordan, you're quite right in that everyone should be treated in the same way. However, it may seem trivial to a lot of you (Ben, Sammy, etc) BUT one minor incident like this can give a club a reputation, rightly or wrongly. By the sounds of it, it isn't the first time a small minority have caused trouble this season. This information is passed from security officer to security officer and very quickly fans begin to be treated with suspicion and security measures are stepped up, which spoils things for the majority.
