Paul Jarvis came on as sub for another former Shrimp Kieran Charnock.

Danny Carlton who has a winners medal from the competition when with the mighty Shrimps was on the bench for the losers.

Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy according to Adam Lord :?

How can it be "Junior" if DC is in the squad?

Lancashire Junior Challenge Cup is its proper name I believe, to differentiate it from the Lancashire Senior Challenge Cup which is now effectively a reserve team competition although in years gone by was a prestigious trophy to win. Morecambe have won both when both competitions had more meaning than they have today; particularly the LJCC which has suffered because the likes of ourselves, Fleetwood and Stanley have been promoted to the FL in recent years and no longer participate.

500 from Lancaster, how many do they get at home? Coins were thrown and some City fans were kicked out apparently.

The Lancashire Junior Cup is actually one of the oldest knock out competitions in the world.

Also, Morecambe were the only non-league team to win the Lancashire Senior Cup when it was played in its original format, beating a Burnley side that had at least one England international in the side. We also were losing finalists in 1974, beaten by Man City. The competition ended then for many years. I think it is now played again in a different format?

The Burnley team that day in 1968 had Ralph Coates , Steve Kindon , Dave Thomas and Frank Casper who all went on to have illustrious careers.
They had no answer to Arnold Timmins though :D :D :D :D

The Final against Man City was played at Christie Park, usually the big Lancashire sides like City, Man U , Everton, Liverpool, Bolton etc all played their youth teams by that season.
However, the trophy, being larger than the original European Cup and, because of the boundary changes enforced that year, the Senior Cup was competed for the last time and City played numerous first team players and ran out winners.
Someone through a dart at Joe Corrigan and it stuck in the back of the post at the School End.
The lad who through it was a City and Shrimps fan!!
City kept the cup, forever. Its bloody enormous!!

It has started up again, without all of the above teams as they are now classed as Greater Manchester and Merseyside!!!

The 1974 final against Manchester City was shortly after the famous FA Trophy win at Wembley against Dartford. City played a fairly strong team in the final and ran out easy 3-0 winners with their striker Barney Daniels scoring a hat-trick.

I think we may have beaten a fairly strong Manchester United in the semi final of the competition.

We had just signed a winger called Brian Grundy after the Wembley win and he played in the Lanc's Senior Cup matches.

Yes we had good gates for both the Everton and Man U games.

My memory must be playing tricks as I thought Brian Grundy played for us well before Wembley??

Having seen the yellow card for his goal celebration, it looked very harsh. Was there something else to it? Was it the away fans that he gestured at?

Said on Radio Lancashire he was sent off for celebrating the goal in an "inappropriate manner" ....

Absolutely made up for Jim Harvey who takes Halifax Town to Wembley for the first time ever in their history for the FA Trophy Final after they beat Nantwich Town (where one Neil Sorvel is Assistant Manager) in a two legged Semi Final.
