Interesting that Luke George has turned down a new contract at Southport.

A highly rated young attacking midfielder.

Just the type of player that may attract Jimbo as he's young 22 and had a couple of seasons in the Conf with Southport. However he's also the type that Coley in his need to rebuild Accy could go for as well especially as it may have been Coley who brought him to Southport in the first place.

:?: :?: :?:

Scotty about to sign for Accy if posting on Portchart is correct...''. :?:

Rumoured to have signed for Tranmere Rovers.

Wouldn't surprise me if Tranmere are able to pay more than we could and if true about George going there (assuming that we where interested) it's just another example of how difficult Jimbo is probably finding it to bring new quality players to the club.

Having just appointed a Players Agent, it will no doubt come down to who pays most for the guys signature.

Beats me as to why a 22 year old Conf player needs an agent who will no doubt take a good percentage of any signing on fee in addition to weekly wages.

Remember Jamie Allen who was on trail with us for a short while the season just finished? He's signed for Southport who have signed 8 players to date. A case of numbers before quality excluding Wrighty of course.....

Simple reason he's signed for Tranmere is Gary Brabin. Developed well under Gary at Southport and he's now Tranmere manager.

Brilliant news.

Still one of my all time favourite managers and did a lot to get us into a position where the FL was not just a pipe dream.

Good to see him back in the game, and surely a position in which he'll excel.

When talking about our past managers, I always class myself as a Harvey man.
He did an exceptional job both on and off the field along with the support of the great board at the time.
The club wouldn't be what we are and where we are without him. :D

I think Bryan Griffiths also deserves a fair portion of credit too.

Jim Harvey was fortunate to inherit players such as John Coleman , Jim McClusky , Paul Burns , Robbie Armstrong etc etc.

Indeed.

Paul Tomlinson, Gary Dullaghan and Michael Knowles too were another trio which Jim inheritted from Griff's time in charge who then led us to promotion. Ben Lavelle too for another.

Was never going to happen, but for me the perfect dream team at our club would have been Jimbo, Ken and JH working together as a team for the good of our club....

The same Ken that you constantly criticise for giving instructions on the sideline that you maintain our players find confusing and that you wanted the club to sack at one point?

I agree that Griff had signed some great players but neither he or Leighton Moss could get them out of the NPL as a team, and Griff was lucky we had Cainy already!! (But he did pack Sharpy and Jimmy Collins off pronto!! )
JH knew what to add and how to play to get us out of the NPL, in the same way that Sammy did with our promotion season in the Conference.
Remember JH signed Stormin Norman in the NPL but rarely played him, yet when we went up he became one of our finest ever players!!

We went from being a well run part time Conference wannabee's in the NPL to arguably one of the top five Non League teams in the country consistently who were full time and pushing to get higher.
Gates tripled and we became a whole different proposition.

I do accept that Sammy came in and did what JH did previously in the NPL with the addition of a few clever players, but still remain a JH man, but thanking Sammy for finishing the job!

I think the difference is that JH had a vision in the Conference of building a successful youth set up and adding players, he quickly rebuilt the promotion side replacing long standing favourites such as Cainy, Coley etc with better quality and blooding some promising youngsters. It worked and we quickly overtook teams like Woking, who were the yardstick for a successful Conference side at the time.
When Sammy got us up, we just fine tuned the already successful squad and made the play offs quickly, but when tasked with replacing this aging squad, he couldn't do it on our budget and wasn't interested in youth at all!!
JH had an unfinished long term plan, Sammy just lost interest when he had to build again!

But both did a great job, as did Griff, as for Leighton Rees, the pies were never that good but she sold a lot of them!! :D

Excluding Burrow though if he's going out on loan as is rumoured!
