Congestion on Westcliffe Drive

When the Globe Arena was being built, I raised the question on SVs about parking on match days. I had already made up my mind to park around Regent Park and walk over the bridge , as many people have also done.
I am surprised that parking has not been banned on matchdays on Westcliffe Drive, or at lease restricted to parking on one side only.
At both games so far, people have parked on both sides, so the two way traffic has been squeezing past. I would be amazed if this situation is allowed to continue for too many more games. About forty minutes before the Rotherham game, a coach was totally blocking Westcliffe Drive, as it was struggling to get past the parked cars on both sides.

They might start putting cones out down one side of the road before a match like they used to do at the front of Christie Park.

We need at least 4 more roundabouts.
Why don't they just shut westgate on matchdays?
Everything used to stop when that nice Mr Churchill came on the wireless.

The alternative for folk that live round this area of town is to have a pint in the York, watch the footie on Sky and then go on our bus direct to the ground. Plenty of parking round the York/Dr's carpark etc.

In fact it's only a 12 min walk down the track past the Trimpell.

No parking problems - no hassle on Westgate after the game.

I came down Oxcliffe Rd the westcliffe drive at about 2pm last saturday and it was already chaos, there are going to be a few wings mirrors clipped and scrapes as it was a tight squeeze for traffic going in both ways.

Won't be as much congestion on Westcliffe Drive tonight.

At lunchtime today the police were putting "no parking cones" all the way down the seaward side of the road.

Referring back to the start of this thread, I said I would be amazed if this situation was allowed to continue, and guess what? It's only taken them two games to realise.
Hope they don't stop us all parking on the streets around Regent Park, then we are really stuffed!

And, on reading the article on page 3 of this weeks Vis, if you DO park on residential streets make sure you don't switch your lights on on your car until you leave the area, don't rev your engine, don't even think about putting your radio on, don't talk to each other or ANYTHING. And the language (unquote) is attrocious ..... ( ) allegedly too .....
Just to keep the neighbours happy .... !!! ;) ;) ;)
