Great result!

Roche - 7. Not that many saves to make but plenty of good catches.
Wilson - 7. Defended well.
Parrish - 6. Solid.
McCready - 6. Solid.
Moss - 6. Solid.
Scott - 7. Looked useful in the midfield.
Stanley - 8. Well up for it, was the driving force tonight I thought.
Fleming - 8. Great debut.
Rundle - 8. Very tidy, two assists.
Shuker - 7. More to come from this chap.
Jevons - 6. Needed a strike partner as usual but did ok.

Some of the football we played tonight was superb. We played it on the ground and it worked. I thought Fleming was fantastic as was Shuker but the whole team played well.

Very, very happy tonight and can't wait for saturday now!

I think these scores are a little harsh on Parrish, McCready, Scott and Jevons. The centre back pairing played incredibly well against a strong and physical Coventry attack, Scott protected the defence very well, making a lot of important tackles. I think seeing as though Jevons was often isolated, he ran his socks off and played some nice stuff, and deserves a 7 just for sheer effort really. Maybe even a 9 for Fleming as well, MOTM by miles and could've had a hattrick and kept possession very well. I was very impressed by the whole midfield unit, they played some really nice first time short passes, great off the ball movement and the wingers looked dangerous all match.

No offense to the guys that got us into the league, but we now look an incredible side all over the park. The way we played was amazing, and wouldn't have looked out of place in the Championship at all, infact, if you were a neutral tonight you may have thought we were the championship side!

Every single signing impressed me tonight, with special mentions to Shuker and Flemming. I cant wait for Saturday now, Rotherham are a decent team, but if we play like that then I can see us coming away with 3 points.

To be fair, Coventry didn't bring a Championship side. Not one of the players who started against Portsmouth on Saturday were even in their squad of 18, so the result shouldn't be a huge shock really. More impressive than the result I feel was the style of play on show. One touch football played on the ground was great to see, and if Mullin starts as many games as last season he could seriously challenge Jevons for top scorer, because he'll exploit the consistent quality deliveries from both Rundle and Shuker.

would've been nice to see Stanners score as he is the last player from our Wembley side, i can't see Jim playing too many games this season

But Stanners hit the post when one on one...
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Roche - 7
Moss - 6
McCready - 8
Parrish - 8
Wilson - 7
Shuker - 7
Scott - 8
Stanley - 7
Fleming - 9
Rundle - 9
Jevons - 7

Brilliant all round performance, midfield dominated and there was some sublime one touch football on display at times, unlike any I've ever seen Morecambe play. My expectations have been significantly raised after tonight

Cheers, Dawzi. Looks great. I got the goals on SSN over here and the first half goal in front of the "north" stand looked awesome.

Great pics, thanks for the upload. The home stand looks absolutely jammed. I would have loved to have been there.

On perusing a Coventry forum I came across this thread (note the name of the opening poster):-

http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/6899-The-decision-to-rest-ten-players-against-Morecambe

Are we too successful for him so he has migrated elsewhere? Or perhaps he is a distant cousin of our own.

Well done last night.

What is everyones opinion of Fleming.

Scored more in one game for Morecambe than his entire career at Wrexham. Will be worth a lot of money if he continues to score reguarly.

I thought we struggled to contain them in first 30 minutes and were quite lucky not to concede, but we started to get into our stride after that and it was great to be able to take a lead into half time in our first real attacking move of the match. In the second half I fet we were dominant and some of the football was fantastic at times. After our second goal I felt they fell apart somewhat and there was only ever going to be one winner. I was very impressed with all the new players. Fleming, Shuker and Rundle in particular had brilliant games. I can see why Sammy has gone for 4-5-1 now we play with two out and out wingers though it can sometimes leave Jevons a little isolated and I'm not convinced he's the right kind of player to be successful in that role. The one weak link last night was Moss. If we're not going to utilise any of our other players in that position then we may need to think about bringing someone in on loan because Moss looked a little out of his depth. We'll see how it goes. All the new guys looked head and shoulders above what we had last season and if we can play like we did in the second half all the time, we'll be more than a match for every team in League 2.
Some are dead and some are living. In my life, I've loved them all.
