I was asking this is the other day is there a bar as I have no idea what to find when I arrive at the Globe. I was thinking of going to the ground early for a walk around and then to see what the new bar was like (if there is one). Someone did say on here there is one and it will be open 7 days a week.

I would have thought they would have been desperate to get off to a good start and get us in, I was even wondering if been the first game to get people in early if they would have special offers say from 6pm - 7pm just as a one off. Instead as noone seems to know most people as already seen on this thread will be going off to other places.

Also if the bar is open 7 days a week will it be open Wednesday and showing the England game?

As a side issue does anyone know when the Globe's community facilities offically open to the public?

Phil
depends where youre watching the game mate
if you have a new main stand seated ticket the bars will be open tuesday ive seen the bars loaded up with beers and wines today
not sure about the mbw stand though
william mitchell and the york are the nearest bars outside the ground
as for the bars being 7 days a week not sure about that but it isnt a public bar as such mate as everything is locked when not in use its not a pub mate its a football ground with a sort of carlton club type facility where you can book rooms for dos and the like is my understanding
Sean

Of all the stands, that's the one bar I'd expect to be open

me too brian and i was chatting to crossy in the ground this morning watching the advertising going up on the roof think were having brysons brewery on one side and the vineyard and deli on the other side of mbw logo so should look well smart think he was waiting for posh to design something :D
all they need is two pumps with cheap carling lager courteous of the ball sponsors on tuesday perhaps we could ask stanley bowles to get down there tomorrow and sort it
it will be a great night tuesday
hope your dads making the trip to see it all!!
or is he on sainsburys watch??

i thought that on the initial designs there would be a bar open throughout the day even when no football on to generate more income?

Not sure Sean. I will be home mid evening and finding my way to my girlfriends house on an eerily quiet Christie Ave.

I will be extremely disappointed if the new ground does not have a club bar that is open to all, regardless of which stand they will be watching the game from to able to meet in and have a pre match drink. This was one of the new elements of the new ground that I was looking forward to. A fans bar would, in my opinion, be one thing that could not be omitted from the new ground without major questions being asked about just who the club is now aiming themselves at? is it all just about corporate hospitality or are the average fans still important and catered for?

I realise there will be bars around the ground like on the concourse and the function room etc but I was thinking we might have something like the club house at Darlington where fans wherever they will be watching the game from can meet before and after the games like a new JB's.

Otherwise it is just lost revenue for the club and Sgt Major will have a large smile on his face :D

This has been the topic of conversation in the York for nearly 2 years. In my opinion if my local customers desert the York for pastures greener (so they think) then that's up to them. I believe when Shrewsbury moved, the pubs near the old ground didn't suffer as fans stayed loyal to establishments that looked after them for many years beforehand. The Shrewsbury pubs even laid on transport on to get folk to the new ground. ;)

The Globe is roughly the same walking distance from the York as it was to Christie, it's just that in some peoples minds that is a walk too far!!!

It's going to be a steep learning curve for all but we will continue to look after ALL fans as there is no atmosphere quite like it in the York with home and away fans mingling together.

Tomorrow night we have a buy three Beacon get one free offer - maybe it will start a push for people drinking real ale ;)

Ive just been in touch withte club on this point to clarify
There is a bar open to everyone before the game which is officially
outside the ground and will be open 7 days per week.
Once in the ground there is access to concourse bars in each areas.
These will all be open and are kitted out with Televisions except behind the goals.

On Tuesday our friends from Coors have put a promotion on their Coors Lager
buy one get one free on Pints and Bottles.

The stadium has been built to give our fans a home, somewhere they can meet
7 days per week to eat, drink, socialise, watch sky live football etc, etc.

The club hope they are going to use it.
