From their site:

Name: James Spencer

Nationality: English

Date of Birth:13/12/1991

Height: 6' 1"

Position: Striker

Second Year Scholar

After missing the majority of the 2008/09 season due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, Jimmy will be looking to return to the form that saw Town turn down a six-figure bid from Manchester City for his services back in 2006.

A tall striker who reads the game excellently, Leeds born Jimmy has been with the Town Academy since the age of seven and has already featured regularly for the Reserves.

sounds like a highly regarded young man. I look forward to seeing him in action soon.

Huddersfield and us seem to be developing a really good relationship, but can someone try telling them that we are not the "shrimpers" please, it's the kind of schoolboy error the BBC would make.

The type a signing most of us wanted. A young striker with little experience that has a lot to prove. He's a bit of a wildcard but this is a positive move by the club.

Hope if hes does well that we can extend his loan to the end of the season.

I'll reserve judgement for now. Not on the player, but whether or not he'll actually get a chance to prove himself. To really do that he'd have to start ahead of one of Jevons or Mullin and Sammy's interview last week suggested he was only looking for back up for those two...

Excellent news on an otherwise bad day..but why do we hear about it first from 't'other side of th' hill?

I would assume that, because he's their player, the etiquette is for them to announce it before we do.

Hope he can give us something a bit different.

I hear Jevons is back fully fit and is looking really sharp in training, having done a lot of work over these past few weeks.

Obviously he's not going to start, he'll be a sub

Along with our Viking import that will be 2 additional strikers, albeit one of them is on trial.

Who needs Bishop?

;)

Crawley have already had a 6 figure bid rejected, so I doubt we'll see him other than in a York red shirt in the upcoming friendly.

I think this signing will be instead of the Danish striker and we will look for soneone else with more experience.

We need three more just to fill the subs bench, only 15 plus the lad on loan. :o

i wouldn't worry to much about the squad size right now

SM & ML do have good pulling power when bringing players to our club

they will probably trial a lot of players like last year in our pre-season away games

and start with a 20(ish) man squad of players

This is good news. Obviously highly rated and should be chomping at the bit to prove himself. If he has pace and aggression he will be the perfect 'tonic' for Jevons and Mullin. He will get his chance because one member of Dad's Army will need to take a breather during a game and Sammy will be just as happy to put the lad on as he was to give Aaron Taylor a run out from time to time.

We need another 4 players to bulk up the squad but things are moving in the right direction.

Sounds very promising, lets hope it works out! It's great that we have this relationship with Huddersfield too.

Fans on the Huddersfield forum seem pleased with the move. He sounds decent but -

"I can see this lad making it. Doesnt have the pace but does have a good footballing brain"

He sounds like a younger player in the Mullin mould which will be useful but again, not the signing to bring us that extra "yard of pace" we need.

Oh dear :o Surely he will have more pace than Mullin?

Back to the drawing board Sammy. We need a forward with the pace of a ferret.
