Bruce from next door reckons you pronounce Ike casillas name as casiyas.
I reckon its its casilyas ( obviously this is not correct spelling but phonetics thingy).
A 6 pack of Tasmanias finest awaits your verdict.

He reckons Casilyas is a balearic/ regional accent thing and the general term is Casiyas.

Just got back from town after watching the game and I'm afraid you do indeed lose, Waynito.

Ka-see-yass would be the phonetic pronunciation as other posters have pointed out. In standard Spanish the double L makes a sound like an English Y as in Yes. Different regional and national accents sometimes turn it into a more guttural cross between a Y and a soft J, (like the J in Benjamin) but 'proper' Spanish Spanish is what we are going with here and there is nothing I know that gives it the L in there that you have.

Iker is in fact a Basque first name (it means 'boy') but his last name is very Spanish. There is no Basque equivalent of the double L as far as I know so I'm going with the Spanish pronunciation, but just because I speak Spanish I do not have any authority with Basque. The two languages are in no way related.

Iker Casillas is neither Balearic or Basque. He was born in Madrid, and has been playing for Real since he was 7!!!. That's what I call a youth policy.
