What with all the talk recently about how we should be concentrating more on the lower age groups in the international set up it will be intresting to go and watch the style of play the under 16s may have compared to the senior team.

What a great advertisement, really do hope we get the sky cameras in what will be the North Stand, basically where they were on the car wash!

Great news that. The Victory Shield is very well supported by Sky.

Couple of links:

I remember seeing the old "Schoolboy internationals" at Wembley when they were on TV a few years ago, but it's all changed now I think. I think then the lads were all playing for "England schools" which is why the likes of Ryan Giggs played for England. Nowadays it seems that the players come from Premier League academies.

One thing's for sure, there's bound to be a host of scouts there, including a few famous faces I should think. Should be a good event.

Morecambe have got one in their new hovel

http://www.morecambefc.com/page/NewsDet ... 04,00.html?

if they can get one in their 2000 seater we should have a very good chance of getting something soon

QUOTE (moondog @ Jul 6 2010, 10:13 AM)
If we make the effort to put ourselves forward, doesn't seem to take much, a word with Ray Clemence was all Morecambe did, surely we have a stronger case than them, bigger capacity more central location etc. Unlike Morecambe we've hosted such a game before, England v Scotland Schoolboys in the 70's.

I'm astonished they've got a game as it is a FIFA/UEFA rule that international games can only take place in all seater grounds - perhaps they are closing their terraces for the game.

just think with all the big names in football coming along and seeing the set up we will have will be great and they will surely recommend us to a few good home grown youngens as well which can only be good for the club

These are excellent games to attend. Been to a few over the years, last one i think was at Shrewsbury + the best one i enjoyed was at Telford. Really good on the floor football from 'hopefully' our future stars. Normally it is quite cheap to get in (fiver may be) and its a really good atmosphere as you normally get alot of families attending who never normally go to football matches and a minimal few return again to league matches after having enjoyed the occasion. Its excellent for Morecambe, excellent for the Globe Arena and everyone concerned with getting this fixture deserves praise as if its a succesful night there is no doubt that more nights like this will follow and the revenue (mainly from the TV rights) will come in very useful.

Good that's what I was hoping for seeing some good football before they get it all knocked out of them and made to kick and rush that the seniors play.
