At present on wickipedia we are showing a squad of fifteen players, obviously too few, if this is the case, how many more players do we need to be effective this season, i would say at least 5 more :?:

3 outfield players plus a reserve goalkeeper I'd say. Don't forget there are 3 youth players to be added to that list (which I would have put on when I re-added Jevons last night but I don't know their names).

we only have two strikers on the books so id say at least one more so say two

then we've lost Artell & McStay and Bentley will be slowly taking a back seat as first team action goes, id say two central defenders

id say in the midfield department, we could do with one play-maker

and one back up keeper

15 + 6 = 21 players in the squad thats two players just about fighting for every position, now thats a good healthy size for a club the size of ours.

how many players we bring in depends on what kind of quality were looking at, if sammys happy with the first team then he'll be looking to sign around 4 or 5 players to bulk out the squad but if he's wanting to reinforce the starting XI then itll be more like 2 or 3 players to keep the wage budget down.

i think it's first team players SM needs to sign and will do

id like a experienced bench of players who can come on and..

Bentley(to steady the ship)
Mullin(great impact sub)
Drummond(knows what to do)
Hunter(to break up play)
Wainwright(good cover for Duffy&Rundle)
another keeper?

More quality even if it's less bodies for me.

Could have sworn somewhere that I'd read about a certain striker signing very soon for us. :? :? :?

Memory must be playing tricks with me.

With respect dawsy, the players mentioned on your list are better than bench warmers and particularly in drummers and jimbos cases, will want as much matchtime as possible, which they fully deserve.

we've let go Adams, Twiss, Curtis, McLachlan, Artell, Davies, Taylor, Poole, Jackson and Winters in the last few months and obviously brought in Jevons (sort of) and Rundle. But a lot of the players who we may be after probably only ended their contracts last week so I'm sure there'll be a lot more activity in the next few days. as long as they are the right people, not just to get numbers in.

But none of them, except Gary, are young players who are likely to improve next season. If we want to improve as a team (and we need to if we're to even get anywhere near what we achieved last season) then some of last season's regular first-teamers need to be pushed out by better incoming players.

That's progress - and it's why we let some of last season's bench-warmers go. No point just bringing in players to replace those on the bench.
