Late Pre-Season Training & centre of defence

Many Premier League clubs are back training now and yet we are still on holiday even though many of the players are going to the gym and working out. A short pre-season training regime is a recipe for disaster, lack of stamina and conditioning plus 4 or 5 friendly games that might result in early injuries. Cross fingers and hope but this could be an early error from management. It was great to see that Jim Bentley has taken on a coaching role but let's not forget that he is still a player and a valuable one at that. The partnership of Bentley and Haining conceded less than a goal a game last season although they didn't play many games together because of injury, replicate that over a season and you have automatic promotion. Bentley and Artell conceded 1.90 goals a game and Haining and Artell 1.75.

Regardless of those statistics I still believe Bentley to be the weak link. Artell out performed Bentley all season and with Haining not looking interested we are in big trouble. We definitely need to sign a centre back.

As i have said previously quite a few players are already training with our fitness coach 2 days a week ,which is optional but a big help when pre season starts on 8th july.

I agree think the centre of defence is a big worry- Bentley not getting any younger or faster!!
Given Artell's season and is age- for me warrented a 2 year deal!
