An absolute disgrace.

The match took place in Morecambe not Lancaster!

As for the rest of the article. Good win! Of course if Yates or Atkinson had been paralysed or worse died in the incident then the defendants would have gone to jail yet their actions and intent would have been exactly the same. I'm just amazed they managed to find three Scousers all with 'previous good character'.

12 month community orders !!

This was pre-meditated thuggery.

a lifetime ban from football would have been more appropriate.

Just reading that, it says that the guy was sent off 10 minutes from the end then stood behind the Morecambe goal, then attacked the Morecambe keeper at the final whistle.

Who allowed him to remain behind the goal, when he'd been sent off? Surely in such an organised game, there were 3 officials, as well as coaches from each team. Why wasn't this player removed?

I was just thinking the very same. If a group of fans did the same, they'd be banned from all football grounds for life. Just because the scousers are very poor losers they have to revert to brutal thuggary shouldn't mean they're excempt from the same banning orders given to fans.
