thanks for all those memories, for me the Lancs. Combination, the NPL, The Conference, and finally L2, and of course those two wonderful wins at old and new Wembley.

no matter what they build there I will always see the old ground and hear the roar as I drive by, and remember that marvellous night last thursday.

thursday was fantastic like many other great days before it though?

Hard to think last Thursday the place was rocking now its been rocked ,went down tonight to have a look what a shock its hard to believe i will never set foot in the place again ,first set foot in there in the late 60's

It's sad to see it finally going. I've also been going since the '60s and have seen one or two changes over the years, but essentially the place always felt the same.

I have all sorts of memories that will always stay with me, but I'm looking forward to creating many more from next season at the new ground.

Have only seen the damage through images. Might go down tomorrow to say a final goodbye

Only went once but it was a cracking little stadium, really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was in the stand where the drummer is?

You lot happy to be moving to a new ground? I was too young to really know/care when we moved to the Reebok in '97 but I can bet a lot of the older generation aren't too happy?

The Reebok isn't a patch on Burnden for atmosphere unfortunately... and for reasons I have no idea of, it also seems a damn sight colder there!!!

But..... the facilities at the Reebok are a damn sight better than BP. Just a shame it was built at a time where every stadium seemed to be from the same design book

The Globe in many ways replicates Christie park. 3 covered stands plus a carwash stylee terrace. We now have a fabulous main stand with great modern facilities in a location that can be expand if needed.

I think the vast majority of the older generation are sad to see the end of a ground where we spent so many years but full appreciate that we had to move or die. There has been very little objection raised, right from when this was first raised by the board and we know that it offers us a chance to be financially viable for a long term future... What will Sky call it? Seeing as they don't use sponsor's names when mentioning match locations (Bradford is always Valley Parade rather than Coral Windows Stadium, Accy is always the Crown Ground) they are unlikely to call it the Globe; but other than the 'Westgate Stadium', do we actually have a formal name for it?

They found it hard to find / get to CP.

What are the chances of the same at The Globe.

Even though the place is gone, it will go down in history. For many people on this forum, Christie was a massive part of peoples lives.
It really annoys me when i tell people this e.g workmates, and they laugh. They dont understand.
I seem to remember walking up Lancaster road as a little one and id see the sign 'Morecambe Fc Vs Hayes' and my grandad saying ''We'll be lucky to get 3 points today 'young en''
It shows how far we have come under one roof. Christie holds so many beautiful memories.

They can build what they like on that site, but thats one thing that will always be there.

Whenever i drive past, i will always remember the roar of the north stand, the beating of the drum, Aunt sallys burger van, Mark Quayles winner against cambridge in the FA cup.... the list is endless.
Hopefully i will snap out of my trance before i get to the shrimp roundabout!

I don't know what plans the club have for the main reception area at The Globe Arena. But personally I'd like to see a couple of large format photographs done in sepia of the old stadium somewhere on display.

We should never forget our roots.

Only because they can't fill it. The 'bowl' acoustics are fine. At Burnden they all packed under that one terrace at the side and made a lot of noise. Away fans were exposed to the elements.


Reebok's better in every sense, BP was a hole.

I reckon the Globe will be great for atmosphere - that home end will be pretty full every week and it's nice and tight for great acoustics - even better then the north stand at CP where a lot of the noise was lost into the ether.

Had only ever been in the old home stand there, never the away end!

Last time I went was when Spurs got thumped by 6! Half the people I went with were in the pub half an hour before the end.

I hope it gets called The Globe Arena everywhere, so that in five years time (or whatever) Globe believe they have such good advertising from the sponsorship that they give the club another wedge of cash so as not to lose the naming rights. Globe Arena sounds good enough in everyday use too. If it was called "The Steam Packet Stadium" I'd probably be less happy... unless they gave subsidised travel to Morecambe fans, in which case I'd be more than happy!
