Thought we were playing a premiership team to open the ground not an average championship side

how can we be unveiling the stadium after having played a prem team a few days previous?

Do new grounds not need test events to get a full capacity certificate?

New Wembley's first match was an England U21 match vs Italy at reduced capacity but I don't think that was it's official opening game if you know what I mean.

How very nice of them to announce our opening ceremony and boast about it being them before Morecambe FC actually do.

Personally I'd tell the bankrupt second county town shambles to sod off and we'll see them in League 1 next season following their inevitable relegation or just a few days later for our annual Carling Cup encounter.

You couldn't script it. I moved up to Newcastle and am working for a company called PNE (Project North East) on an e-learning website called GLOBE (Guided Learning in an Online Based Environment)... my colleagues can't believe it!!!

The club are are pleased to announce that Morecambe chose the Lilywhites over an un-named Premier League club to mark the opening ceremony of their new Globe Arena.

Would rather the club have played an un-named premier side rather then Preston.

I remember when Wigan opened the then JJB Stadium Morecambe were the first team to play there but they didn't officialy open the stadium untill Manchester United came of a friendly.

So much for the talk in JB's prior to the Daggers game that Newcastle were to be the first club to grace our new stadium !

My ten year old has just said "..why would anyone want Preston to come and open our new ground.." Quite incredulous he was too

I think if we had wanted to officially open the Globe with a fixture against a Championship team, then it would have been appropriate if it had been Ipswich

I wish, if the first game is to be on the 28th then i will miss it as i don't get back into Manchester airport till 8pm on that date.
