While thousands are stuck abroad I don't think Leaving On A Jet Plane would go down very well

Final Countdown could well be in the mix

Please no! The cheesiness would be too much, I'd much prefer no music 30 minutes prior to the game as no doubt the north stand will be full and we'll all be chanting.

There are others that want to celebrate / remember the times gone by, other than just the North Stand.

Some of us have memories going back to the 50's and maybe would prefer music whilst the North Stand does its own celebtrations or whatever.

And what after the final whistle?????

Fair enough but I'm not sure where songs such as the Final Countdown fit in (I hate that song), perhaps we should meet in the middle and have songs we can sing along to.

Not sure about all the cheese ball songs, final countdown??? Obviously I get the connections but its got nothing to do with MFC. If you continue down this road you might aswell throw in Frank Sinatra, My Way (And now the end is here, As so I face the final curtain....get the hanky!!!!).

Like I suggested in a seperate thread, I'd prefer songs to be played that remind me of christie park and going to games, mixed in with some current tunes to stop it getting tedious. A song that I associate with going to Morecambe games is Chumbawamba, Tubthumping (I get knocked down, but I get up again) because when I started going in the mid to late 90's it was always being played before a game. But I'll leave it up to Mark, he is afterall in charge and does a great job as it is. Lets not forget its also his last time at Christie doing his prematch routine.

Not sure if I will bother now which is a shame as I was looking forward to spending all evening down at Christie Park.

Does anyone know after the Aldershot game if you can get into JB's bar like normal up until about 7pmish? or will it be ticket only all day?
If people can't go for their usual post match pint after the game I can see a few unhappy people.

The player of the year awards will be held in a marquee on the school field at the back of the Main Stand that has been booked specifically for the event. Fans have been asking why we couldn't hold an event at Christie Park, the player of the year was the most suitable option.

We are limited to certain numbers because of space and licensing issues. The tickets have been priced accordingly at £10 and £5 including a drink etc, although this will not cover the expenses incurred.

The marquee will also be used by ther ex players and guests prior to the game and will be open to anyone from 12.30pm - 2.30pm to get autographs, photos or have a general chat about times gone by. Guests already confirmed include: Paul Burns, Dave McKearney, Paul Tomlinson, Robbie Armstrong, Jim McCluskie, Steve McIlhargey, Andy Grimshaw, John Norman and the list is growing daily.

At 5pm the marquee will open to those people with tickets to mix with the current players, staff and guests. The awards will start around 7pm with guest presting all of the major honours. Mark S. is playing DJ and the night is sure to be a huge success, I'm not sure there will be another opportunity to have all of the people there in one place again.

JB's bar will operate as normal all day. Of course it will be busier than normal and we are looking at ways to ease the conjestion with mobile drink stations around the Main Stand for after the game.

Should anyone have any further questions regarding the day's events on the 8th May, either post on this thread or send me a pm.

Having help put the finishing touches together for the schedule for that day I dont think that there will be much time to play music whether it be 50s crooners, 60's comedy duos or 80's cheeserockers.

What I would say is get down early and enjoy the atmosphere.

More details in tomorrows programme ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

CC -The only way to listen to exactly what you want to is to bring your ipod!

p.s. Thanks Stu. You are right it is going to be strange leaving that little box after so many years.

Very much all change and a different format next season. ;)
