with just 2 games left at Christie, it is quite possable that we could see the last ever goal scored by a Morecambe player at the old ground this weekend(hope not)

so who is going down in the record books?

The first ever goal I saw at Christie Park was a game back in 1985
Morecambe beat Gateshead 2-0
but as a 7 year old, I cant remember much about the game.
can somone tell me who scored that day?

I think Tibor Szabo scored the first but cant remember who got the second.

I think it would be fitting if it were Jimbo. Though I would also like it to Wayne or Drummond or even little Gary Hunter. Someone who was with us through the Conference years and the seemingly never ending struggle to make it into to the Football League.

Gateshead?? Tibor scored with a tremendous diving header from a Peter Sayer cross, after he had beaten two men. We had 800 on that day, but for the life of me I cannot remember the other scorer!! Hardly surprising as I cannot remember what I did yesterday!!
Was it Jon Balm? Doubt it? Kenny Gordon? Possibly?

We still had that tin hut of a stand then,right where the north stand is now,A young Martin Shaw use to run the club shop where the police control room is now.I remember later in the season playing Marine in the lancashire junior cup semi final and a certain Mr Freez leading the singing at the game,
