Statistics

from yesterdays programme:-

Morecambe have hit the woodwork more times than any other league 2 side (17)

Craig Stanley has the most assists of any Morecambe player.

That 2nd stat certainly didn't surprise me. Hopefully his contract will be one of the next ones to be done and dusted.

Another stat - after 33 games last season we had 43 points this season we have got 48 points and that's after 1 win in first 14 matches so not doing too bad

fortunately Sammy realises it and described Stanners and Drummy as the "engine room" in centre midfield.

But his assist include corners which if anything are backwards ;)

Bearing in mind he takes all the corners and free kicks around the box its hardly a surprise. The stat doesn't imply Stanners is the king of the killer forward pass.

and then again Corners and free kicks are not regarded as assists for statistical purposes !
