Transfers?

Postby darrenlock » Thu Feb 25, 2010 11:49 am

So tell me who would you keep and tell me why?

Roach - Yes

Parrish - Yes

Haining - Yes give him new 1 year deal

Artell - No send him on loan ;)

Wilson - Yes but i think bigger clubs will go for him

Drummond - Yes

Manny - No i think Exeter will go down and keep him that is why.

Stanley - I'm not sure yet all depends on if Morecambe get Crainey.

Hunter of course.

Duffy - Yes Twiss - No

Mullins - Yes

Jevons - Yes got a felling he'll go Bradford if Peter Taylor is manager next season?

Curtis - Maybe i wanna say yes Aaron Taylor - Yes he has talent

I am only a first season pro, so I'm not really experienced to talk about past history i can only talk about what i see on the pitch.

The people I'd let go:

Darren Moss if possible - he's been poor
Danny Adams - not good enough any more
Ian Craney - he's good, but we don't need him - he doesn't fit in anywhere
Fraser McLachlan if Manny stays, keep him if Manny goes
David Artell - we have too many centre backs and McStay is younger
Michael Twiss - thanks Twissy, it's been emotional, but back to the conference for you

Good call. I would add Stanley, Curtis, and Taylor. We need to get some more bite in midfield to compliment the elegance of Drummond

Happy days 8-) 8-)

I don't remember the Fonz is that right FONZ from Happy days?

I really want Morecambe now to offer Aaron Taylor a new deal i know hear comes the backlash from this sentence lol.

And i want Morecambe to offer Barry Roche a new 2 year deal so the bigger clubs now its hand off or pay big money.

Also Manny Panther to sign him but that is depend of Exeter status if playing League1 football or not they could get relegated and probably would need to keep him.

I need a nickname on here.

Out of contract in the summer. I'm sure, given news about Drummy and Gaz, that talks are underway let's hope we get some good news. Before this week we had only 5 players contracted for next season and 18 out of contract. Of the 16 now without a contract I'd definitely offer a contract to 5 of those and possibly 4 more.

The list I think is as follows:

Out of contract

Danny Adams - end of 1 year
Dave Artell - end of 1 year
Craig Stanley - end of 2 year
Michael Twiss - end of 2 year
Wayne Curtis - end of 1 year
Phil Jevons - end of loan
Neil Wainwright - end of 2 year
Scott Davies - end of 2 year (?)
Ian Craney - end of loan
Manny Panther - end of loan
Fraser McLachlan - end of 1 year
Aaron Taylor - end of 2 year (?)
Matty Poole - end of 1 year (?)
Paul Mullin - end of loan
Andy Parrish - end of 2 year
Henry McStay - end of 2 year

Under contract

Jim Bentley - contract extended until 2011
Garry Hunter - contract extended until 2012
Stewart Drummond - contract extended until 2011
Darren Moss - contracted until 2011
Mark Duffy - contracted until 2011
Lawrence Wilson - contracted until 2011
Will Haining - contracted until 2011

Not sure

For me, it's the ideal time to rebuild the team around those already contracted for a further year with the addition of Jevons, Craney, Panther and Parrish and to bring in some younger players so that the foundations of the club in years to come are already in place.

Unfortunately since Sammy took over there appears to have been a lack of investment in the clubs youth policy which had gained a reputation as being one of the best in the North West. l understand the need for experience but a blend of the two would be ideal.

It might mean that we have to forget any promotion aspirations for another season, but building for the future NOW could bring its rewards later.

Of the "out of contract" players, I'd let go of the following:

Adams
Stanley
Curtis
McLachlan
Taylor
Jackson

And bring in...

A young, pacey striker. Possibly from non-league or someone who has failed to make the grade at a larger club.

A fast winger. Left footed would be nice too.

Possibly a creative midfielder. If we can't get Craney permenently then this is a must for me.

I'd just have a smaller squad than this season. And if Jevons wants to stay but wants a big contract, we might have to let go of more players than we bring in to afford him.

You've just missed out on a pacy winger. We've sold 18 year old Zac Aley to Blackburn Rovers, a very raw but exciting prospect.

Considering Blackburn have paid less for him than you have for duffy and baker then it suggests he'd be within your price range and they did dawdle in making an offer.

What happened to the tip off before the event? :(

Not a lot of people know this but if it wasnt for Mellow and Posh we would never have had Baker.
