BBC's Late Kick Off

Just watched it. Stanners mistake was repeated a couple of times, it looks worse each time, especially in slow motion. With all the midfield having had a bad day, I would think if any changes are to be made, that mistake may swing it for Craig on the bench. Panther to start at Bury?

Panther may start at Bury but not in place of Stanners.

Sammy was on Radio Lancs after the Burton game praising the "engine room" central midfield duo of Stanners and Drummy. He also praised Stanners dead ball kicks from corners and free kicks and bearing in mind that always looks like our best bet for scoring why drop the best dead ball kicker at the club.

If the goalposts were on the touchline Stanley would be the best player in the side. As it is, I think he slows down play with his crab like antics and he is not the best defensively. He has great delivery on the set-piece, but so do many others. Away from home especially, he is a bit of a luxury player. Tonight at Bury I'd rather see Panther and/or Hunter in the midfield alongside Drummond.

You'd probably need to move them level with the top of the North Stand too.

I think he's a decent player, but I think Stanley is a lot of style over substance - to me, he excels neither at attacking or defending.

As was pretty obvious last night on the replay, Stanners looked like he just misjudged the flight of the ball and thought it was going wide. It was a mistake, we all make them. Yes Stanners plays lots of lateral balls, but I remember a bloke called Wilkins who made a living out of doing that. Every team needs a player who can retain possession. On top of that, as has been said, Stanners is the best dead ball kicker at the club. Sammy will select his side on merit, on attitiude, on effort, and on what he's seen in training. I for one, would like to think that a manager would give a player an opportunity to make up for a mistake, whatever line of business they're in. The only place Stanners ( and the rest of the team, it's a team game last time I checked) get to put it right is on the pitch, not sitting on a seat.

Hopefully but Bury are a very good side, I'd be stunned if they don't go up in the automatic spots. we'll do well to get a point. But you never know....

I was thinking that when I was considering how I'd change the team after Saturday's display. I think Craney, Mullen and Jevons can work well together going forward.

The fact we've had other stinkers this season suggests there'll be occasions when we're served up the same before the end of the season. However, I also expect we'll see performances in the ilk of last Tuesday too.
