First game at the new stadium

Trying to book my holiday back to Thailand for the summer and it is looking like the only real option with getting time off work is to book the dates of 30th July - 20th August. This means I am in danger of missing the first game at the Globe and obviously a bit of history!
Does anyone have some fairly accurate dates for when the first game, I believe a friendly against a Premiership team will be? I am pretty certain I will miss also the first game in the Football League too.
Which is likely to be the bigger occasion?

Think the first (league) match is 7th August?

I would expect us to ask for the first game of the season to be away just in case things aren't running to schedule

The scheduled opening date is 1st July, 6 weeks before the start of the season

We'll be buggered if that's the case - we'll need the friendlies to get the safety certificate most likely.

I may be wrong but I'm sure it was said at the new stadium announcement day that Globe's schedule was to finish by July 5th.

So when does the friendly season usually kick-off? Hopefully we will get a big team down to open the Globe up in style!

Based on this season, Morecambe played their first friendly around 14th July, but no doubt someone will have the exact date.

Wigan Athletic to be used to test evacuation and safety issues?
Remember we were the first at the JB Stadium for exactly the same reasons.
The first 'big' game v a 'big' team (with all due respects to WA)......Man Utd

the premiership team is the last Weekend in July so would expect us to have a few more games before that. Barrow may be away next season due to the trouble we have had with a small section of Barrow fans in the last 2 games.

i assume that prior to any game the club will be holding an open afternoon for fans to walk around and perhaps decide where they would like to sit etc
don't want to spend the first pre-season playing musical chairs till i find somewhere i like
just a thought

First friendly, home to Lancaster City so that it is a real celebration of football in the area.

Hows about this lot for the opening set of fixtures:
vs. Stalybridge Celtic (cough)
vs. Manchester Utd XI ( the mark/sammy connections game)
vs. Barrow ( wayne curtis testimonial game )
vs. Manchester City XI ( the mark/sammy connections game 2)
vs. Scunthorpe Utd ( the come and play against your dad & welcome back Thommo game)
vs. Aston Villa ( the Mark Lillis versus another former club & wouldn't it be fun to watch Martin O'Neill jump about like a lunatic game)
vs. Lancaster City {last pre season friendly} (the look what you could have won game)
I know it looks like a lot, but not proposing doing any away friendlies, why bother when we've got a brand new stadium to show off.

Those all sound good but we don't want to churn up the pitch before the season starts by playing so many friendlies at home.

Wow! really bad luck there mate, not only will you miss our first Globe Arena friendly game vs Benfica! and our first league game 10/11 season against Stevenage, but we finish our asian tour on the 27th of July, last match in Chiang Mai at the 700th Anniversary stadium vs Lanna Tigers!
Do you spend all your free time smashing mirrors or what?

Well I hope I'm not spilling the beans too much here by giving some clues but I understand that a REALly good football team will be our first opponents, we'd be MAD to miss it and it would RID the club of the sceptics over the quality of the team we'll face.
Yes that's right! It's West Brom
